MY HEATER CORE IS LEAKING IN MY 2002 DODGE RAM 1500, HOW DO I FIND IT AND HOW DO I GET TO IT?
You will have to remove a large portion of the dashboard. It is on the pasenger side, lower section.
OU DO NOT HAVE TO DO MUCH, JUST REMOVE THE HEATER HOSES, THEN DRAIN THE CORE BY LOWING AIR THRU IT, MIX 1/2 OF A CAN OF PEPPER WITH WATER USE A FUNNEL TO POUR THE MIXTURE ONTO THE HEATER CORE USEING A PICE OF HOSE TO RUN THE MIXTURE ON TO THE CORE MAKE SURE IT IS WATERY ENOUGH SO IT FLOWS EASILY, LET IT STAND FOR A DAY. THIS WORKS, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AS YOU, BUT I AM TOO OLD TO WORK ON IT AND HARDLY ANY MONEY, SO THE LAST RESORT WAS MY INGENUITY. DAN IN TX

NO. The comlpete dash has to come out. You may want to replace the a/c evaporator, there also prone to leak and it woill be cheaper to do both at the same time. Recalls are only for safety reasons, Dodge doesnt care about heater cores, (or any other components) as long as they last through the warranty period.

Probably still some left in the heater core. Should quit after a while, or try blowing it out. I would even flush it with water first. Better to have water leaking than antifreeze. At least your dog can lick it and not die!
