While driving at 70 the truck starting slowing down to about 35 going up hill. it takes a very long time to get up to any speed. no matter how much accelerator you give it does not respond. idles fine. Replaced fuel filter and catalytic converter.
Need change sparkplugs and check your fuel pump pressure when is hat the engine
Check the cable that connects the Gas pedal to the throttle plate in the intake manifold. Cable could be streched or breaking and not opening the throttle plate all the way.. another easy thing to look at is just past your air filter is the Mass Air meter.. open it up (take the large hose off) and clean it. there is special cleaner for this job.. its a spray available in any auto parts store. You replaced the CAT.. is there any other possible blockage in the exhust system.. this is a classic symptom of a blocked exhaust. To check this you would unbolt the front part of the cat and run with a open exhauset just to see if it corrects problem. Very loud but a last ditch choice. Check air filter?? I have seen rats nests in airfilters in the winter.. this usually causes the engine to smoke from too rich mixturee.. but the fuel inj systems are so smart now they might adapt to a blocked air filter and reduce the amount of fuel.= going slow.

hi if thats the case it is afuel problem
# replace fuel filter
# remove fuel from pump the one that goes back to the pump remove fuel cap blow threw with compressed air to make sure there is no blockages
# if u can get a fuel pressure gauge check fuel pressure it should be about 4-6 psi
# on the carby fuel where it connects to the carby there should be a bolt take it of and from memory there is a little screen filter check if its blocked and clean blow air into the carby fuel inlet
# on the bottom of carby body midway is 2 nuts facing down one has the main jey in it when u take this off all the fuel should come out of the carby place air nozzle in hole and hit it with high pressure to clear
see how u go mate

these kind of behavior generally happens, when the tappets clearance is less than the specified .that means when the engine heats up valves elongates, and the gap reduces, resulting valve leakage, improper combustion, power drop, emission, missing etc....set the tappets

Good Evening, if your truck runs fine at idle it would make me wonder about the mass air flow sensor, however when you first start it your idle air control sensor should open up and let your vehicle to idle up to warm idle and then back to normal. So there are a few things to check.

Hi John butts, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Starts and idles fine. You give it gas it responds normally. You put it under load and it struggles just to get moving and takes a very long time to get up to a normal speed. I will eventually get up to speed but slows way down when claming a hill. It does not matter how much you accelerate it does not respond. It never spits or sputters. No smoke from the exhaust. uses a lot of gas to go a very short way.
thats it???
Need to know what solved it???
