The reason you are losing revs, the engine is being protected. BMW is clever. They've programmed the ECM to govern the engine performance. In doing so, if the engine sensors report a problem, the ECU with have the car in a type of SAFE MODE. It will not clear. You'll need to see your friends at BMW, or a BMW independent technician.

Could be a lot of things...but a common problem with the m series is the "cyclone valve", BMW' s fancy name for pcv valve. If you live anywhere it gets cold, they tend to freeze up and crack the diaphragm inside the valve. Of course they wear out as well. A symptom of this condition can be white smoke coming out of the exhaust, indicating fuel still being unburnt. You can also buy a winter package that consists of insulating wrap, tye straps and a bunch of other useful stuff.

My dacia sandero when i change gear the revs dont die down as if the accelarator is sticking but it isnt?

  1. Worn clutch: If the clutch is worn, it may not be disengaging properly when you change gears, causing the engine to continue to rev as if you were still accelerating. This can also cause difficulty shifting gears or a slipping feeling when accelerating.
  2. Dirty or faulty throttle body: The throttle body controls the amount of air entering the engine and adjusts the idle speed. If it's dirty or faulty, it may not be closing properly after you release the accelerator pedal, causing the engine to continue to rev.
  3. Vacuum leak: A vacuum leak can cause the engine to rev excessively or idle roughly. The leak can be caused by a cracked or disconnected vacuum hose, or a malfunctioning intake manifold gasket.
  4. Faulty idle air control valve: The idle air control valve regulates the engine's idle speed. If it's faulty, it may not be closing properly after you release the accelerator pedal, causing the engine to continue to rev.

I have a 98 venture, when out of gear I rev the engine and at 3000rpm the engine start cutting out, power then no power,in 1/2 second intervals. It loses more power as you try to accelerate.

Don't have a lot of experience with this model , but , sounds like rev limiter is engaging because computer believes vehicle not moving maybe ?
Is speedo working if electric ? if speedo geared then is speed sensor bad , I have seen that before .

When you rev the car the counter doesnt pass 3000 revs loses power

If the vehicle won't rev past 3k in park or neutral, that is normal. It is the rev limiter stopping you from breaking your engine. If it does it while it is in gear, you probably have an exhaust blockage.

I HAVE A MICRA 2005 MODEL WITH NO POWER. WHEN THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL CAR REVS FINE, THE MOMENT YOU SELECT 1ST GEAR ENGINE LABOURS AND REVS UP VERY SLOWLY AND DOESNT REV PASED 4000 RPM PLEASE ADVISE

possible selector problem when you push forward for 1st your are actually pushing into 3rd, try starting car from 2nd gear and see if it stalls as that would mean you are hitting 4th. usually a car can pull off in second gear ok. if this is the case go to a dealer to sort this out. as your gear selector is not aligning up correctly. if this is not the case the engine could be losing compression but that seems less likely.

Mitsubishi Galant losing power

firstly, is this a Gdi engine? if the engine revs ok when on park and neutral, but loses power when on a gear while driving, most likely your GDi pump is malfunctioning. i experienced this problem twice already and the pump was the problem on both occasions. the car works fine and malfunctions sometimes until the pump stops working and the car can hardly drive and then it stops starting altogether. the pump is fairly easy to replace.
