2006 Suzuki Forenza transmission slipping

2006 Suzuki Forenza's transmission slips, as if it goes into Neutral, then goes back into Drive as I'm driving. On the dash board the Letters that indicate Drive, Reverse, Neutral, etc...all flash at the same time as if the gear shift has been knocked out of drive (but has not), what can this mean?

Transmission range sensor may be failing. I would test it for opens and shorts.

SOURCE: Gear is slipping

this is something that a transmission shop will have to fix. also sounds like the sensor on shifting of transmission isnt receiving proper shifting signal.

2006 forenza transmission slips out of drive

Sounds like the transmission engage switch has gone bad. Which happens ALOT with these cars. It is a simple part, about 60 bucks, and not covered under the powertrain warranty. It is also pretty simple to install. Is the check engine light on? You should have it diagnosed and probably get a code P700 (general trans problem) they need to check the transmission codes and it will probably be a 705. You can also go to the Suzuki forum (google) and it will have detailed instructions on how to change it out.

P0700&p1884 suzuki forenza transmission codes

transmission codes are complex, in fact all A/T transmissions are complex and very expensive to diagnose and repair.
if you want to work this problem, then get the book. called a FSM.
if not wanting a book ? then use all data dot com. (or mitchels)
these are the standard codes, the dealer (defunct in USA/CAN) can pull down more accurate factory codes.
or take the car to any ASE certified mechanic and he can do that.
If it drives ok, sell it as Suzuki is chapter 11, and shutting down.
in some states they already are 100% down.
The transmission controller will report to you, if any sensors is bad
related to the trans, and will also sport gross transmission slippage.
is it slipping? (aka, flare or a false neutral)

I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. Just got the 60,000 mile service done on the car (timing belt and the whole 9 yards...) I picked up my car from the dealership last weekend. As I was decelerating on a...

I would suggest calling the dealer right away - there may be a defect in your transmission OR they may have done the transmission service wrong, if the transmission was even serviced. I have had a bad experience with a company power flushing my transmission - they did it wrong ( changed the filter before flushing) and fried my transmission. I'm not totally sure of what is going on with your car ( a hands on diagnostic is required) but I do think something is rotten in your trans.
Hope this helps!

Transmission or Engagement issue?

I had the same problem with my 2006 Forenza - the problem was the transmission range sensor. If you look under the hood, on the drivers side, you'll see your trans. cable connected to a round part that also has an electrical cable coming from it. That is it. Part costs $36.07 at oemsuzukiparts.com (search for Neutral safety switch in the mechanical catalog).
