When is the last time you had your cooling system services. It could mean several things, but without more information, its nearly impossilbe to diagnose.
Could be a faulty thermostat.
Could be a leak or lack of water.
Could be a vapor lock where the system was not run with the cap off after adding anti-freeze/water mixture caused by too much air in the system.
Could be a faulty or leaking water pump.
Could be a broken fan belt or fault secondar fan.
Could be a leaking head gasket.

The BMW 525I doesn't have a dip stick. The oil level is checked using the "i" menu. Select service status and from there you should choose "check engine oil level".

The newer power plants do not have a dip stick for checking oil level. Oil level is checked by either the I-drive or by using the BC stalk.

The sensor could be dirty or have buildup on it or when the oil is inside the pickup tube, the level is less in the pan.

Try turn the ignition on...next put foot on the brake....Then mash gas pedal to the floor all the way down until it touches the floor and then back up 3 or 4 times..completely while foot is on brake .This works for GM and chrysler...It might help you I am not sure but it is worth a try.....>Some vehicles have a reset and a settings button on the dash board....If you have these buttons the pedal trick wont work.......Hope this helps.............................Metalpoet
