Only thing I can think of is that some chassis component directly above the tank is under certain circumstances violently hitting the tank and cracking it.
Sounds like the brake pads may be worn out in the front. Make sure that there is not metal to metal contact that may score the rotors. Also, check the shoes and drums for the rear brakes if so equipped.
If you need instructions on how to disassemble, let me know.
Your brake pads, shoes are worn down metal to metal. Get them replaced. Usually, a squealer is installed on the brake pad and it will hit the metal first and let you know with a loud squealing sound, then comes the actual metal to metal, then comes the damage. So, Get it done asap, and avoid turning the rotors or drums. Hope this helps.
Sounds like the rotors are just a little worn and the pads are clicking because they are hitting the high spots. I would have the rotors checked. Also there should be dampiners on the pads, little metal springs to hold the pads tight mabey one is off or broken. Also make sure you use that silicone backing stuff when you change your break pads.
your brake light switch has failed. this will also allow you to shift out of park when you hit the brake pedal. when you hit the brake pedal the brake light should come on and the shift interlock solenoid will activate(you might hear a clicking sound under the dash or near the shift handle) allowing you to shift out of park.
First, if the brakes are stopping the car OK. Check that the metal shields behind the rotors are not touching the rotors...that can make terrible noise though it's not serious and is easily corrected by bending. If that is not the problem, bring it back to whoever did the work immediately!!! I'd much rather see a car not starting than one that can't stop...Obviously dangerous and important not to delay having looked at!
