Jeep 96 dies sometime going down the road and wont start sometimes. will start after 10 miles at times and 24 hrs sometimes. the dash says check gauges. help woman alone need advice

Fuel pump intermittent, check for fuel pressure before dropping the tank to renew pump.
Otherwise check electrical connection at battery, and make sure you do not have an open circuit.
Loss of connectivity could cause this issue, failed fuel pump sometimes work, but are not reliable.
You should see 30-45 psi at fuel rail, and the regulator should bump pressure 5 psi when reving the motor. Higher pressure indicates failed regulator.

-Before replace the alternator. Test it first. If its good
the problem is " wiring" it could be touch ground.
Or start the car and turn every thing off then turn back on

I have 1996 oldsmobile aurora it start but cut out crank over and over befor stsrting do you fuel pressure is

i just had my coil pack replaced. .. .i had a misfire in #8 then random misfires. .. i changed the #6/8 and it didnt make a bit of difference. ..

before that i thought i had a fuel leak or a leak in the air intake.
if i was stopped at a light, the rpm would move up and down slightly. . the car would act as if it wanted to leap forward. and sometimes it would just cut off at a light so i would keep it in neutral . . .at one point. it would take me 4 or 5 tries to start it up. . i changed the fuel pressure regulator then it worked ok for a minute then back to the same. ..

anyway turned out to be the whole coil pack that needed replacing

Not every day, but occasionally , maybe twice a week when I try to start the car nothing happens. After a few tries it will start and not do this for maybe 10 to 20 starts. Has been like this for...

Try cleaning your battery cables - especially the bottom ends. The bottom side of cables are ignored or overlooked because they're a pain to get to. But they're exposed to grease, road grime, etc... When cold cables contract and if there's grease & dirt in there it creates resistance. You attempt to start a couple times, cables get hot and expand make contact, Clean cables with a good wire brush

My olds wont turnover as im tryin to start it but it has been sitting for a while like six months what should i do for process of elimination its a 1996 aurora oldsmobile

Pretty good chance that most cars will run the battery down with no use over 6 months.
Put a battery charger on it first - and leave it on for a good amount of time.

Randomly wont start

Well the starter is 17 years old. Nippon Denso and Hitachi starters are prone to low voltage at the solenoid signal wire (black with white stripe).
