MAZDA 323 2002 ENGINE WAS REBUILD BUT CAR NOT CRANKING

The car starting with engine gauge temperature rising and cutting off air conditioner but not going in red. However 2 days later it went into overheating and water started to boil in overflow bottle. So the mechanic it as digonized it as head gasket leak and rebuild the engine. However on putting it back together it wont crack and does show any fault (777). Anyone got any idea what it could be there are recommending to replace crank sensor.

SOURCE: Mazda 2005 RX-8 wont start... ran yesterday, lights on & sounds

I have a 2004 that had the same problem. It sounds like the engine might be flooded. The best thing to do is to remove the fuse to the fuel pump. It will be listed under the fuse cover under the hood. Mine was a 20 amp but check to be sure. With the fuse removed, crank the engine for a minute to remove any fuel flooding the engine. Replace the fuse and crank the engine in 10 second intervals without touching the gas or you will reflood the engine. This process can sometimes take awhile and will drain your battery, so have it connected to an additional power source ( i.e. another car battery or jump box). When the car finally cranks over there will be a huge cloud of smoke so don't be alarmed when it happens. Lastly some words to the wise. This process CAN ruin your starter, but is essentially the same process that the dealership will you except that they will remove the spark plugs to drain the fuel and then charge you for new ones. If this process doesn't work then you probably need new spark plugs which is going to cost quite a bit. I was quoted upwards of $525 to fix this problem until I talked to a Mazda mechanic and found out how to do this myself. Just make sure that the engine is up to running temperature before turning the car off and you shouldn't encounter this problem again. I hope this helps you, and remember that if all else fails the dealer can fix it. It won't be cheap, but they will get it done.

I almost forgot, you HAVE to get the oil changed as soon as possible because there is probably gas in the oil now.

SOURCE: 2000 Mazda 626

i had a similar problem with my 626,what sorted it for me was to clean the crankcase breather tube on top of the rocker cover. The little valve inside this seems to stick but spraying some air intake cleaner (comes in an aerosol can) frees it out and allows the engine to breath better and so tick over evenly.

SOURCE: engine overheating

All i can think of is the thermostat is not opening. or you may have a clog somewhere preventing the flow. Check the T-stat and hoses and radiator ( for clogs) Good luck

01 mercedes s430 temp gauge starts to rise when stopped at a stoplight but then goes down when driving.

Check your radiator fan or fans. when car is moving air will cool your engine to a normal temperature. When as you say you stop for a light the cars fans take over and will cool the engine. I would check the fans to see if they are stuck ( with engine off) and if not check for a blown fuse, and bad temperature sensor. Good Luck Friend.

Heater only blows cold air and temp gauge does not work

It sounds as though the engine coolant thermostat is stuck open or worn out preventing the engine from warming up properly.

I am wondering if the temperature gauge starts to rise when the car is stationary with the engine running for extended periods. If so it is probably the thermostat that is faulty.

Iffwhat extra care should be taken during cold starting

If the vehicle is an manual gearbox, hold the clutch in until the engine has taken properly. If it is a manual rather start i neutral with the park brake on than in Park. Once the engine has started, let it idle for a minute or so before driving off slowly. Until the temperature gauge has at least reached the 1/4 mark, try keep engine revs below about 2500. All the while keep an eye on the temperature gauge, if it rises very sharply and the fan does not come on, there is a possibility that the radiator is frozen and the engine will boil and burst a hose. If the temperature does rise suddenly, stop and carefully feel if the radiator is still cold. If it is, shut off the engine and wait till the radiator has thawed. This will take a while but can be hastened by starting the engine for a few minutes to warm the engine compartment to help thaw the radiator. When water is circulating freely, you should see a sudden drop in temperature. Do not rev the engine too much, the incoming water will be ice cold and could crack something. This is not something that occurs often, especially if you try park the car where air cannot readily blow through the radiator overnight.

Mazda eunos leaking cold water, engine running hot and smells like burning rubber, temp gage is not showing a problem. Could it be the themosat?

Unless your gauge is faulty you engine probably is not overheated. Any vehicle engine at normal operating temperature is hot. I'm guessing but I bet your normal operating temperature is about 185 degrees. You say it is "leaking cold water". Were you using the air conditioner when this took place? If so that is normal condensation. As for the burning smell I would look at the exaust area to see if a piece of trash has caused it.
