You can do it without removing the exhaust crossover. You'll need to either buy a half moon 13mm wrench, or fab up your own wrench.

Take the top rad hose off the top of the engine and the thermostat housing should be the part you take the hose off of. There probably is two or three bolts that hold this housing on. Carefully take it off and the thermostat should be inside this housing going inside the top of motor. Replace with new one making sure you put a new gasket in place as well and replace housing but do not over tighten the bolts as they sometimes break off then you are in trouble Make sure you install the thermostat the right side up I did get one up side down once and they don't work that way.
Wishing you good luck.

SOURCE: 1999 Buick Century thermostat question.

patience , and a 13 MM wrench , you gotta get your arms in there deep , that lower bolt does not need to come all the way off , the thermostat housing has a slot at the bottom for easier access , loosen it about 3.4 of the way and you can get the housing out , experience says a premium thermostat will give you grief trying to reinstall , get a regular duty thermostat .reverse procedure.

SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

Changed thermostat already car still overheats (95 buick century)

Your thermostat might not be the problem. Have you checked the wiring for the temperature sender? It's the piece that tells the computer whether the temperature is too hot or not. It could be faulty. You also may have a clog somewhere in the cooling system. Please specify what you have done so far so that we can further assist you. Have you tried a backflush yet? I would suggest this for a start. Good luck!

follow your top radiator hose to top of the engine, where it hooks up with a hose clamp. under that metal housing is your thermostat! usually 2 or 3 bolts you remove , then lift off the metal housing and take out your old thermostat and remove the old gasket with a razor blade.. install your new thermostat and gasket and away you go!! richie
