Washed engine will not start

Also using a water displacement will help such as a slight spray of WD-40 lubricant. This learned while working at a car wash doing detailing cars and cleaning hundreds of engines!

Check wiper relay.
Short circuit in harness.
Check wiper control lever assembly and its contacts.

was the start like cold start? Wath was temperature.

hi, sometimes the engine can get fuel washed. in older vehicles(carburated vehicles that is) this condition used to be known as flooded, but in the newer vehicles(fuel injected) there is a case where fuel is sprayed in and will actually wash the piston rings of oil just enough so compression cannot occur properly. i generally just open the throttle blade full(floor the accelerator) before turning the key on to start engine and crank for a little while. if there is a fuel wash condition, the engine will start to fire a bit then eventually kick over and run, when it does run, you may have to pump the gas pedal to keep running, and eventually, the engine will come back to life. if this happens to be the situation, it is time to change your oil as it will be fuel saturated and it may happen to you again(no start that is.) now, this happens about once a month in my shop where combustion just gets fouled by a mis-start and the rings get washed on a number a vehicles, but you should always check to make sure the camshafts rotate in sync with crank, timing chains on nissans like the one in the maxima are known for stretching and the guides are known for wearing. this would be the next area i would check, if the chain and guides are too worn, the engine likely won't start. good luck with it!

most of the time ive seen a broke car after an engine wash its been 2 things a ruined throttle position sensor they are not water proof not even on jeeps.or a bunch of vater vapor insinde distributor cap [if yours has a dist.]but you could have blown off some hose or wire take a close look for that.

is it the battery...

it sounds like the alternator might have gone out...

does it crank?

Underneath the pollen filter housing under the bonnet the ECM (engine control module) is located,If any of the drains are blocked you could be getting water into the ECM....Just a thought...Hope this helps

Yes its a new one to me too !
I presume its an automatic model ?
Possibly the gear selection inhibitor switch is at fault, due to water ingress ?
Have you tried starting in neutral ?
Do you hear any clicking from the engine starter at all, when you turn the key ?
If you do, then suspect the starter motor at fault.
I see you posted this on Dec the 6th, so expect you have located the problem by now, if not hope I have been of some help.
