P1456 is a Honda manufacturer specific code for Evaporative Emissions Canister Leak Detected. Honda has a Technical Service Bulletin about that code that you should read but most often that code is caused either by a bad seal on the gas cap, or the cap no being tight enough. Either way, DTC P1456 isn't related to the vehicle not starting so you'll need to look elsewhere for the cause of the no start condition. First things to check are to see if there is fuel getting to the engine, and if there is spark getting to plugs. Hope that helps.

Testimonial: "It was not getting any spark (Distributor was the problem. Once I corrected that problem the car started and the P1456 code also went away."

2004 Honda Pilot Evap code P1456 Changed gas cap from honda and still

code p1456 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge system(fuel tank system) -leak detected===causes--hose-fuel tank/pressure sensor--fuel filler cap--EVAP valve /bypass solenoid--EVAP two way valve---EVAP canister/vent valve

There is also a second reference to the code which is EVAP system leakage ====filler cap--EVAP canister purge valve--hoses---EVAP canister shut off valve---ECM programming---ECM

Check with the service dealer that the filler caps are interchangeable . It may be coincidence that the problem started after you changed caps or it may have shown a failure in the making

What is code P1456 DTC See Dealer Manual

this refers to the Emission Control System leak detected ,fuel tank system so if you can get under vehicle safely have a look to see if there is a fuel leak but i would expect it would be more likely on the breather side of the system so a repair shop would be the best option

Apparently this code is a tricky one and hard to pinpoint it's problem and fix. I have seen it clear with just a new gas cap. Seen it clear by running nearly out of gas and filling up. I have seen it clear up with using higher octane gas for a couple of tanks. Many dealers cringe when cars come in with this code, because nothing appears wrong on their scanners, so they clear it and drive for a few miles and give it back to customers with a bill and a "we couldn't find anything wrong with it". Read the following Honda Forum post and make your own decision. Good luck. P1456 Evap Emission Control System leak Drive Accord Honda Forums

P1456 code

Your Code P1456 is a EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected). Normally this is a leak in the System and will not cause a Miss. The Fuel goes to the Fuel Rail and the Excess is sent back to the Fuel Tank via the EVAP System. There is a Purge Valve on top of the tank that is probably causing the leak. The Miss is another issue (Spark Plugs, Ignition, Coil, or clogged fuel filter) would be where I would start.
