SOURCE: Trouble Code p1004

This from an owner with the same code, indeed it is the intake maniflod that causes the issue.
P1004 is a intakemanifold short runner valve performance. they replaced the intake manifold plenum. cost $1200, but they repaired under warranty in the interest of customer satisfaction. my base warranty is out by milage, yet they repaired it for free. now that is a great dealership. I would talk to the dealer, this is a manufactirer defect, also it may be covered under federal emission warr. 7/70,000

SOURCE: 1995 Chrysler Cirrus overheating

Probably not water pump. Engine is notourious for vapour lock.
Cooling system must be blead of air before thermostat will work. Cool bottom rad hose is a dead give away. If you are still watching this forum reply , and I will walk you through the only way I know how to make it work properly. It's actually easy if you do it my way. I have worked on lots of cars , and this engine was the hardest to bleed out. Did one Yesterday , and works perfect.

Testimonial: "I need help on how to bleed the system thanks"

SOURCE: coolant leak

On these mini vans there are lines to back if it has temp control in back. How much water do you loose in what period of time? If no leaks found then check exhaust while running to see if coolant smell from there. Could have leak in gasket on intake allowing water in or head gasket and just burning water. Has fuel milage dropped?

What and where is the heat stove tube

The heat stove is a metal shield that covers one of your exhaust manifolds, usually the passenger side. It has a flexible pipe that runs to your air intake. When the engine is cold a valve in the intake opens and the engine pulls warm air from the manifold through the pipe.
Chances are the stove is missing from your truck, they tend to rust out at the mounting points and either fall off or get pulled off by someone who gets annoyed by the rattling they make. You can still run the pipe down to the manifold without the stove and it will do the job, just not as quick. The pipe can be got at an autoparts store but I think the stove is a dealer item. Ask to be sure. Hope this helps.

Manual for replacing a EGR valve.

This is a common problem with the 104 engine. I'm assuming it is a c 280. First you need to check a couple of things. Below your intake manifold there is a source vac. line running to a switchover valve located under the plastic cover on your front cam cover. that switch over valve operates your 2ndary air inj. and egr pipes. The codes you have are saying that these 2 systems are not operating. If the source is good take of the plastic cover on your valve cover(held in by 5mm. allen head bolts). the 2 vac lines running under that trough are running to your egr and your 2ndary inj. the 1st is the air inj. the rear one is your e.g.r. valve. If these systems just plain were not operating it would not cause your car to run poorly cold unless there was a vac. leak. Take a vac. pump and apply press. to your e.g.r. valve with engine running and you should notice a rough run when vac. is applied. The 2ndary air inj. is more complicated to test because there is more involved. Fixing this vac. leak will help get your adaptations under control and your vehicle will run a lot better
