Mine is an 88 cant imagine its different, thereis a plastic tank on the rhs of the trans that has a screw off lid, you will need the car on stands or a hoist level and with the oil at opperating temp you will also need a bottle pump or some type of plunger to fill it the engine must be running and add the fluid slowly allow time for it to be taken into the trans repeat until at the mark and stays there

I need hydraulic fluid for my 2008 Mitsubishi Spyder convertible top.

I would not feel insecure using hydraulic oil for rams and jacks as those items need to be reliable, scoot down to your auto parts store and grab a bottle, remember to fill with rams compressed. hope this helps.

My 1993 Ford Mustang convertible won't go up.But the motor is coming on.Also it will go down thou

There must be a hydraulic fluid leak somewhere. Check to see if there is oil filler cap on your hydraulic pump located in the trunk compartment. Fill if necessary with just enough fluid to raise the top. The reason it won't go up is cause it is lacking pressure from the low fluid

1996 audi cabriolet 2.8 V6 convertible top motor needs fluid how do i add the fluid to the convertible top motor?! and what type of fluid does it need?

Almost all power convertible tops are electric over hydraulic. The ecectric motor runs a hydraulic pump. The pump pushes fluid to the cylinders that work the top. Most are located behind the rear seat backrest. Either remove the rear backrest or access the motor/pump from the trunl. It will be shaped like a cylinder. At one is the electric motor, at the other end is the hydraulic reservoir. At the end of the reservoir is a rubber plug. With the top down, remove the plug and fill it with tran fluid till it over flows. replace the plug and cycle the top up and down as far as it will go. Repeat the process till it will take no more fluid. A turkey baster with a piece of vacuum line makes a good filler tool. With that said, you must find the leak. You may have a leaking pump, hydraulic line or cylinder. RNever replace one line. Do them all. Always replace cylinders in pairs.

Good luck, Karl at aoksales.com

1995 Jaguar convertable XJS quarter light windows wont go up

The rear windows are controlled by a timer in the top's ECU. If
the rear windows stop fully closing before your top is closed, the
problem MAY be with top's hydraulic system.

Check your top's hydraulic reserve tank for low fluid level. Lack
of fluid will greatly delay the top's closing sequence, leaving
those rear windows partially open.
Your top's hydraulic pump system is located beneath the right side
of the cubby/storage box behind the front seats. Raise the cover
and you'll see a removable trim panel on the right side. The pump
is behind that access panel.

You can use power steering fluid to top off the tank, but don't
fill it above level indicator line. You may have to add more fluid
after you cycle the top up and down to get the air bubbles out of
the lines.
It could also be a relay. On a 95 the relays that are in the trunk above the battery.
Perhaps, just switching the relays might prove which one is failing..

The Covertable top button does nothing, The relay has been replaced and the fuses are good unless there are some I do not know about.

Do you hear the motor running? If yes, then it could be the fluid level in hydraulic unit.

To check the hydraulic unit:
- Remove luggage compartment trim.
- Open convertible top once and close again to bleed the system.
- Convertible top must be closed.

If you have another way of bleeding the hydraulic unit, then do it and make sure to bleed the hydraulic unit.

Good luck!

Convertible top motor runs for a few seconds and quits. top goes uo about 6 inches but settles back when motor quits. how can i check to see if motor is still good or if needs replacing?

the motor just pumps hydraulic fluid into the lift pistons. If you are low on fluid, the motor can't create enough pressure to run the pistons. Check the fluid level.
