The other brake lights are working fine, just not the center one. What could be the problem? It looks like the 3rd light is led lights not a single bulb. How would I fix it?
Hi, try to locate the power source for this light,Test the light from this end, possibly may be a loose fitting or could have unplugged. Best of luck.
I had this on my E39 525. The third light on the saloon is accessible via the black plastic cover that is accessible via the boot and is under the rear parcel shelf at the back. Take it out, clean the contacts with sandpaper and WD40. Make sure you clean the centre contact in the base of the fitment (tricky to get at but a piece of sandpaper wrapped over the end of a screwdriver works well). Then put a new bulb in and it will probably work.

hello what i would do first disconnect the wires off the brake light switch test the power wire to make sure you have power to the switch if you do contact them to bypass the switch completely test see if your lights are lit if not i would trace the wiring back to the sockets contacts inside might be corroded or wires in the socket are not contacting the metal tab or broken at the crimp they sell replacement sockets you can splice into the harness if you dont have power at the break light wires you need to trace wires back to fuse panel first check to make sure there is not a secondary fuse box under your hood usually on drivers side near the strut tower usally says fuses goodluck please rate

Look for a missing / poor ground connection on the drivers side lamps.
SOURCE: no brake lights except for the 3rd center light works bulbs are good
Possible that the brake light pressure switch is faulty, wires snapped to the sockets. Trace backwards using a 12 volt test lamp or even a multimeter to get to the fault with the brake pedal pressed.
