SOURCE: 2002 sonata 2.4l battery dash light on. replaced alternator. Still not charging

I don't know if your car has an integrated regulator or not; some house the regulator in a section of the alternator case, others mount it remote from it. The regulator monitors the load and battery voltag,e primitively but effectively, and controls the current flowing through the field winding of the alternator to ground, changing the magnetic field intensity and consequently the voltage output of the alternator. The 'hot' end of the field is internally connected to the + output, the 'cold' end is controlled by a transistor inside the regulator which, in turn, is controlled by circuitry monitoring the system voltage.     Some alternators can be tested by sticking a wire through a specified opening, actually shorting the controlled end of the field to ground briefly, while monitoring the voltage across the battery, doing this though for seconds only. This essentially bypasses a suspected defective regulator; this causes the output voltage to rise instantly to its maximum of ~17 volts if the alternator is OK.
I don't recommend poking a wire at random into an available opening so having a service manual (Haynes-Chilton) would be nearly mandatory.

I have an 07 tundra with 163,000. Replace battery and alternator due to battery light on. Ten miles later I noticed that the volt meter was slowing creeping up and down.

You changed the battery? Have the battery load tested with a carbon pile. The problem could be a bad cell in the battery IF that is not the case it could be an ECM issue. Alternators are internally regulated

I'm having a problem with my 2005 Artic cat 400

things that could be wrong.
compression leak (Piston rings or valves )
fuel (fuel air mix)
ignition (spark plug lead or dispack)
battery or alternator power
spark would be my first though as this needs to be working properly for full range. weak spark will run but will over tax the engine at speeds. if the engine is running fine until a certain speed then this would be affected in affected flood the spark. can als be the alternator if the battery is not charging correctly.

1986 Cutlass battery gage shows my battery isnt getting a good charge unless i hit the gas .

Yes, a slipping belt can certainly affect alternator output. Squealing could be a bad belt, but check all the pulleys for the belt for roughness or wobble-bad pulley.

Battery light stays on until I press the gas

Known issue to occur occasionally on VW/Audi. What is occurring is that the alternator is not spinning out fast enough to start charging, so the light is on. Once you rev the engine, the alternator starts to charge and remains charging till its shut off and restarted. It can be related to too low of an idle (not adjustable, unless you have a dirty throttle plate or air leak), the alternator itself (aftermarket or a bad rebuild) or an incorrect alternator pulley installed (too large).

"check system charging" is coming on at high RPM's

You have an alternator problem, have Kragen auto or a store like it test the alternator for proper operation, it's free.
