What place is the bank 1 censor 3 on a s10 98 located

  • Bank 1 is referring to the side of the motor with cylinder 1, usually the driver side. And it would be the 3rd sensor back. Its probably not dual exhaust so its just referring to the rear o2 sensor located after the catylitic converter. Hope this helps.

I have to replace the downstream oxygen sensor. A

The location for these types of sensors varies from vehicle to vehicle.

Odds are your manual won't tell you.

Get a Haynes or Chilton manual (free at most libraries) for your make , model and year.

The location, plus changeout info will be in it.

O2 censor

You would use an oxygen censor socket to repair that. You can buy one for pretty cheap or you can rent one from the parts house. You'll want to disconnect the electrical connection to the O2 censor, slip the socket over it (using the appropriate ratchet) and take it off. You can also use a 7/8 inch wrench on most cars if you can get it in there.

Co2 censor

The Oxygen sensor is located on top of the catalitic converter which is as viewed from under the van between the firewall and the Moter/tranny. It's got a wire coming off it going into the harness. The shop charged me an hours labor to change it out and probley only took 5 minutes.....
