I guess you have no idea what a TPS Sensor
looks like

It is a sealed electrical part

ALL Vehicle Parts have to be tested & fail a test,
to need replacing

Nothing to clean

2006 nissan altima wont start when hot. Like not

I assume it starts and runs fine when cold? It could be a faulty TPS. Since the TPS adjust the setting of the throttle (butterfly plate) inside the throttle body. If the throttle body is dirty it will give you satarting/running problems. Make sure its nice and clean. Then see what happens. If problem persists after cleaning I would suspect the TPS is bad.

Fast idle land rover discovery

I had the same problem on my 96 Discovery. It turns out, if the low end of the new TPS reads even a little bit higher than the old TPS, then the engine will rev high. It can be reset at LR dealership to map the new TPS, or you can hog out the screw holes on the new TPS and turn it clockwise until it reads as low or lower than the old TPS, or you can try cleaning the old TPS and reinstalling it. I was able to fix it by rotating, but I also was able to read the TPS signal at the OBD2 diagnostic port.

T.P.S CODE KEEPS APPEARING, REPLACED T.P.S, unplug it and it does not cange idle speed or anything

Hello: The TPS has no effect on idle speed, make sure the throttle plates in the throttle body are clean. Check the wiring for the TPS at the connector, check the wiring in the harness, make sure it doesn't have any bare wires.

I have a 1997 Lincoln Continental ocassionally after driving and turning the car off it take two or three times to crank back up. when it does crank it idles kind of rough till you gun the acceleraror a...

Could be a sticky throttle position sensor TPS. If the TPS is not sending the right signal or the signal is not getting through then the ECU is unable to set the idle air control mechanism accurately. Clean the throttle interior, spray plenty of WD40 since it helps in the cleaning process as well as lubricates. I find using a clean paint brush is an excellent tool for cleaning awkward places Wipe down thoroughly when like new. The TPS is located on the throttle body at the end of the throttle plate shaft. It has three wires connected to it. The outer pins supply a voltage reference range of 0 volts and 5 volts. The middle pin should read near zero volts when the throttle is closed at idle. As you rotate the throttle plate the voltage reading should climb smoothly. If the clean up fails to help have a long look at the TPS.

Took off TPS? to clean up. Replaced with new gasket now motor will turn over but not start. Have spark, no fuel. 1992 vette. Do I need to reset computer? Unplugged IAC and MaF and tried to start. No go....

could have damaged the tps. if the tps shorts out and shows like its full throttle, it goes into clear flood mode and shuts down the injectors. try unplugging the tps and try to start. it it starts, replace the tps.

I would like to clean my tps and mafs. where can i locate these. it is 98 early model

The tps is located on the side of the throttle body, usually black in color and has 2 screws or bolts and a wire connection. Uaually they can't be cleaned, they are a sealed unit.
The maf sensor is in the intake tube that goes from the air filter housing to the throttle body.

2000 expedition w/4.6 will not idle runs ok on road had it scanned, egr code comes up but no tps.could tps stillbe it w/out code shown?

Yes, it could still be the TPS. Since only 8 bolts hold the airhorn to the manifold, you could try to clean beneath the airhorn and replace the gasket. The EGR is often false coded when the flow from the intake manifold is blocked to the EGR.
I would try cleaning under the airhorn first. Then clear all the codes by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. The TPS has a limited life it seems and is right on the airhorn you are removing. Your option to do it at the same time.
