The check valve on the fuel line at the filter housing may be leaking back not maintaining pressure when the engine is not running.

chrysler has updated the lift pump with a retro fit kit that installs the lift pump in the fuel tank. not hard to install but requires a software update in the ecm

Nissan altima 2005 cranks but won't start is it the fuel pump

When you put your key in, don't turn it all the way but to the point where everything powers up. You should hear a hum from the lower rear that lasts about 3 seconds. That's the fuel pump. If you don't hear that, it could be the fuel pump.

1996 318 tds diesel hard to start in mornings returning diesel

Disels are simple, if they have fuel and compression at the right time and in the right quantities they will run fine. You might just have a blocked filter. If the mileage is moderate your injectors or pump might be the problem and the symptoms might have started quite quickly. If the mileage is high, it could be a worn engine in which case it would have got worse over a period of time and you might be using oil. Have a diesel specialist look at the injectors first, then the pump and the engine last unless he can see something obvious.

i want to say that it sounds like the fuel solenoid closing . if the solenoid is going bad it will happen more frequently , if you have a cam sensor on that engine that would be the other possibilty .
