I have a 2001 2.5 auto x-type jaguar and am getting a strong knocking & vibration on brake pedal. This happens 2 to 3 times while driving followed by ABS light on dash & breaking is then fine after. Have changed all brakes & pads still having above problem. Can you help please ? Many thanks Mark

It should not.
The ABS system is only designed to aid your braking of your vehicle.
If the vibration is happening all the time you are driving, it should be a tire problem.
If the vibration is happening when you brake the car, it should be a warped brake rotor problem.
God bless your efforts.

Hi Cheyenne:
- For the vibration, I'd be checking universal joints or CV jounts.
- Sounds like you've got your brakes figured out already. Time for some maintenance.
IF YOU ARE HAVING BRAKES PROBLEMS THEN YOU NEED TO STOP DRIVING VEHICLE... get it check by dealer repair should be covered under warranty
sounds like a computer software problem
As long as it virtually goes when warmed up, don't worry. When starting from cold remember P & N aren't actually driving the transmission. Point to note, Jaguar say no servicing of auto-trans necessary - this is NOT true - fluid AND filter should be changed about every 25/30 thousand kms.
To address your first problem squeaking brakes aka "brake squeal", is most often casued by one or 2 things: "Pad vibration" or a "low brake warning sensor".
Pad vibation is usually caused by ineffective pad anti-rattling clips & hardware that allow the pads to vibrate at a super fast speed whenever the brakes are applied, thus causing a high pitch brake squeal. To correct this, replace all the pad hardware and anti-rattling clips and make sure you use a quality pad set that has anti-rattling plates attached to the backs of them. Weather conditions do affect brake squeal, that is why it seems to be worse at times.
Low brake warning sensor squeal occurs when your brake pads reach the point of replacement, the sensor attached to the pads scrapes on the rotor which produces a high pitch squealing sound to warn you it's time for new pads.
As far as your second problem goes (a knocking sound), I'll need more information about the problem before I can offer a possible cause (eg. happens on left or right turns, while going over bumps, at high or low speeds, accellerating...).
it could be one of two things :
1- The brake pedal sensor which is located under the breke pedal.
2- the transmission handle electric lock , that is supposed to release when you push the brake pedal.
