Cooling system diagram 2003 Chevy Impala

Here is a general diagram of the cooling system for a 2003 Chevrolet Impala:
[Diagram of 2003 Chevrolet Impala cooling system]
In this diagram, the main components of the cooling system are labeled as follows:
  1. Radiator: This is a heat exchanger that is responsible for dissipating heat from the engine coolant.
  2. Radiator fan: This is a fan that helps to cool the radiator by blowing air through it.
  3. Thermostat: This is a valve that controls the flow of coolant through the engine and radiator based on the temperature of the engine.
  4. Water pump: This is a pump that circulates the coolant through the engine and radiator.
  5. Engine block: This is the main component of the engine, where the combustion process takes place.
  6. Head gasket: This is a gasket that seals the engine block and cylinder head, allowing the coolant to flow through the engine.
  7. Cylinder head: This is a component of the engine that covers the top of the cylinders and contains the valves.
  8. Heater core: This is a small radiator that is responsible for heating the interior of the vehicle.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any further questions or need more detailed information about the cooling system for your 2003 Chevrolet Impala, you may want to consider consulting with a mechanic or referring to the vehicle's owner's manual.

Would locate engine coolant drain plug?

Technically, if your hood is open, look under the front of the car, you must remove all the clips that hold the stone guard up.
At the bottom of the radiator is a round hole on your left side, insert a Phillips screw driver and turn left, coolant starts to flow.
Problem with removing the lower hose is it will splash getting everywhere, use a suitable pan and please recycle at your local recycling center.
Good luck

Coolant is not flowing into expansion tank via little hose and car is overheating. As it is getting hot the coolant bubbles and spits coolant through the little hose but it is sputtery like it is tryi

coolant will not flow from the return pipe continuously.when the engine heats the coolant expands returns to tank. coolant fan starts engine cools down return pipe flow stops . fan stops after times, again coolant heats up and flows through the pipe. this cycle continues and go on.

1999 alero changed thermstat and the car will intermitantly overheat there seems to be no pattern.

BLEED AIR OUT COOLANT SYSTEM.WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN.REMOVE COOLANT OVER FLOW PRESSURE CAP.IF YOU HAVE 3.1 OR 3.4 ENGINE OPEN AIR BLEED SCREW ON WATER PUMP BYPASS HOSE.OPEN BLEED SCREW.WATCH COOLANT IN OVER FLOW AS YOU OPEN BLEED SCREW COOLANT WILL DROP IN OVER FLOW JUG. AS IT DROPS CLOSE BLEED SCREW ADD MORE COOLANT IN OVER FLOW JUG DO THIS UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY AT COLD FULL MARK.WHEN DONE TIGHTEN BLEED SCREW DONT OVER TIGHTEN IT OR IT WILL STRIP OUT BREAK.CRANK CAR UP UNTIL THERMOSTAT OPEN THAT WHEN TOP RADIATOR HOSE GET HOT.WATCH COOLANT GAUGE,IF ENGINE TEMPERATURE RISES TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT UNTIL COOL.REMOVE RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP USING A RAG TO KEEP FROM GETTING HANDS SCALED.ADD MORE COOLANT IF NEEDED WHEN ENGINE COOLANT STOP DROPPING IN OVER FLOW JUG AND ENGINE DONT OVER HEAT AIR IS OUT OF COOLANT SYSTEM.

My heater doesn't work!

Check operation of the heater core coolant control valve and associated remote control mechanism.
Chech heater coolant hoses are not kinked or crushed,
Check that both inlet and return heater hose is equally warm, as this indicates coolant flow through the heater core.
If no coolant flow:-
Check cooling system is correctly filled, taking care to bleed off any air locks from the system as necessary (with heater coolant valve open);
Check heater core is not blocked- if blocked you may be able to backflush.

I need a cadillac seville sts 1998 4.3L & 32

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line, this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

No heat

No heat can mean low coolant in the radiator. Check that. Also would mean you have a coolant leak. Might possibly be a restricted heater core. Possibly a blend door in the dash that quit working. Thermostat could be faulty allowing coolant to flow continuously.
