They are slip on/off. You use an 17mm size box wrench and wedge it between the end of the hoses and the fuel filter and GENTLY pry the hoses off. After securing the new filter in place, push the hoses back on by HAND. Note the flow direction on the filter (there is an arrow on the body of the filter) before removing and make sure it is facing the same direction when re-installing.

Change fuel filter

Remove the screw from the metal bracket that is holding the fuel filter. It is located right below the battery to the right. To get the quick connect fuel line fittings off. YOU WILL NEED A DISCONNECT TOOL. O'Reillys or Auto Zone should have the tool pack of (6) The small gray one fits the 2001 Sportage. Put the plastic tool under the fuel line fitting and squeeze together. The fuel line will pop off the old filter. To remove the rear fuel line, go under the vehicle and use the tool on the fuel line. There is a rubber hose with 2 quick connect fittings. One end attaches to the filter and the other end attaches to a metal fuel line under vehicle. Remove the fitting that attaches to the metal line since there is no room on the back of filter for the tool to fit. Once you get the whole assembly out of the car.... you can work on getting the fitting off the rear of the old filter. Be very careful not to damage the plastic quick connect fittings! KEEP YOUR FACE CLEAR OF THE FILTER A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS WILL COME OUT!!!!!

How do I change the fuel filter on a 2003 blazer?

1. Remove your gas cap to relieve any pressure on the tank.
2. If it is easy to see, then is a cap and valve stem assembly on the fuel injection supply rail. A small squeeze on this will relieve pressure on that end. (Use caution for a small amount of fuel may seep out.
3. Your fuel filter should be located along the frame rail underneath your vehicle. Probably about even with the your drivers side door.
4. Remove the filter using normal hand tools on one end. The other end may be fitted with plastic clips that squeeze together to release the fuel line. (If you happen to break a clip they are available at most auto supply stores in the "HELP" section)
5. Remember that you will lose some fuel so be prepared when you remove the filter. USE CAUTION when first breaking the lines apart.. just in case of any pressure..

Best of Luck, and let me know how you come out..

Fuelfilter try to change fuelfilter and wont come

ou need a special tool to remove the fuel lines on your vehicle. Fortunately Ford had the wisdom to provide it to you. Here's how to do it.

Removal:
Warning: because of the combustion characteristics of gasoline, always use extreme care when removing and installing any fuel system component or personal injury or damage to the vehicle may occur.

  1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  3. Remove push connect fittings at both ends of the fuel filter. NOTE: To remove 5/16" push-connect fittings, use Fuel Line Removal Tool T90T-9550-B or tool supplied on vehicle. Tool is located 254 mm (10 in.) behind fuel filter. Place in glove compartment after use.
  4. Install new retainer clips in each connect fitting.
  5. Remove fuel filter by pulling fuel filter toward center line of vehicle and free from fuel filter bracket. NOTE: The flow arrow direction should be positioned forward and downward to make sure of proper fuel flow through replacement fuel filter.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2002 Kia Sportage?

Hi there,

The fuel filter is located right below the battery to the right. If you intend changing it, here are a few steps to help. Firstly, remove the screw from the metal bracket that is holding the fuel filter. To get the quick connect fuel line fittings off, you need a disconnect tool. I got a pack of 6 at Advance Auto for $12. The small gray one fits the 2001 Sportage.

Put the plastic tool under the fuel line fitting and squeeze together. The fuel line will pop off the old filter. To remove the rear fuel line, I had to go under the vehicle and use the tool on the fuel line. There is a rubber hose with 2 quick connect fittings. One end attaches to the filter and the other end attaches to a metal fuel line under vehicle. Remove the fitting that attaches to the metal line since there is no room on the back of filter for the tool to fit. Once you get the whole assembly out of the car, you can work on getting the fitting off the rear of the old filter. Be very careful not to damage the plastic quick connect fittings!

Good luck!

Don't know how to change fuel filter on this one.

This one takes a special tool to un-clip the fuel line from the filter. Aso,If you can't get the clip to release, you wind up cutting the filter ends off with a hacksaw. The money you thought you saved, just went into an all day project, laying on your back.Unless you want to buy a special tool you only use once in awhile, let someone replace it that has one.

Remove fuel pump from 97 powerstroke

Remove the plumbing that hooks the turbo to the intake make sure not to loose the square cut oring that hooks to the turbo on th y pipe. Remove the fuel filter housing there should be 3 or 4 fuel lines that need removed. Then there will be a icp solenoid that needs the connector removed. And I think one plug that hooks all the wiring on the fuel housing to the main harness. There will be 2 13mm bolts holding the housing down to the engine. You should be able to wiggle the housing and slide it forward some make sure you get some new fuel lines while your doing this as well I think its 3/8 fuel line make sure you cut them same length as original. Go ahead and get new clamps. Once you got the fuel filter housing out the way you can get to the bolts on the fuel pump. I used to take a cutting disk to the turbo pedistal but I ended up taking a wrench I think its like 1 1/4 wrench (not for sure) I took the wrench and cut it in half. Grinded the box end for clearance then heated it up and bent it. You then loosen that large banjo bolt on back of the fuel pump take care not to loose the two sealing washers I usually just slide to bolt back and leave it there. Then take the 2 bolts loose that bolt it to the block. Take a heal bar and pop it up. When reinstalling the pump if you cant get to bolts over cause the cam is holding the pump up you may need to turn the motor over so it slides down easier. Then start the 2 bolts leave em loose so that you can start the big banjo bolt. The put you new fuel lines on the fuel filter housing with new clamps reinstall that hook up the electrical connections. When you get ready to put the y pipe on make sure and use some brake clean to wipeout the residue on the orange rubber hoses. You may need to add some grease or vaseline to hold the square cut oring on the turbo then reinstall the y pipe. Sit back look it over make sure its hooked up good give it a start and then verify no fuel leaks. You will need a long flat blade screw driver to get to some of the clamps.

Changing fuel filter on 2004 Cadillac SRX

If you go to the auto parts store they should have a fuel line disconnect tool that has a 5/16ths end an a 3/8ths end. The tool is shaped like an X. Before you start you need to pull the fuel pump fuse under the front of the REAR passenger side seat while the car is running and let it stall. it will release the built up pressure. This is important unless you want gas to spray every where. Then take the tool and start with the end of the filter with two lines. Place the appropriate end of the tool over the smallest inlet, push the tool in then pull the line towards the filter and then push the line away and it should disconnect. Do the same with line above. Then you can use the two appropriate size wrenches to disconnect the outlet end. reconnecting the new filter is simple just make sure your quick connect lines click in all the way and you tighten the outlet line well, I think its like 22 or 25 ft/lbs.
