Speedometer dont work

which engine, 1MZ? what? the engine dictates the ECU the ECU dictates what scan tool works this year.
what country, not stating that ,makes all answers wrong.
so as always, i post from USA , answers

The speedo on 95 series cars have a VSS,
and if it is dead, the PCM will be glowing the ECU and very unhappy,

so l mr. ABS 100x angry...too.. Ignore ABS for now;.
as they say first things, first.
you turn key , to on, CEL glows, (must) means PCM happy.(self checks)
you start car, the CEL goes out and stays out , does it? no i bet.
you drive, and CEL comes on , you insert the diagnostic, jumper (non IMZ engine)
and bingo CEL flashes out code for VSS dead?

code 9, code 42? others?
post your DTC error code and we CAN fix it.
OBD1: engines.
http://www.troublecodes.net/toyota/

ok , id fix the speedometer first.
sure would.
bad cable? did you test and check the cable yet?
i looked up your car at alldata.com so could you.
VSS is manditory for many ECU/PCM /TCM and ABS functions.
mandatory.
your car i think is USA car, is it? , and if YES< then is OBD2 compliant?
see list of cars below that are, (early OBD2)
so if it is , scan it after driving say 30 miles, or 5miles fast.
got P0500 that is a dead VSS.
fix speedo. now.
any scan tool made for OBd2 works on IMZ engine, here, state side.

data: OBD2: cars.

Transmission wont change past 2 and speedometer wont work all happened at the same time and check engine light is on

i would pull the codes with a scanner first so youre going in the right direction-however, from my experience this car has possibly 2 speed sensors- one is called an input sensor and is probably near where one of the axles goes into the trans. the other is the VSS- vehicle speed sensor. if either one is faulty it could set a check engine lite, and the trans uses these sensors to determine shifting points as well as making the speedo work. keep me posted.

Instrument panel, fuel gage, speedometer, not working.

look in your fuse box and see if the fuse for the instrument panel is blown. Consult your owners manual to locate fuse box. I may also be a fuse under the hood where there is a fuse box too. hope this helps

Why wont my speed odometer work on my 2002 dodge neon rt????please help

The speedometer is driven by the computer which uses the Vehicle Speed Sensor, which is located on the transmission, to determine how fast the vehicle is traveling. It is not uncommon for the VSS to go out unexpectedly, usually the check engine light will come on when it malfunctions, and the computer will lock the transmission in 2nd gear, which will allow you to limp the car in to a repair shop.
