For the past few days every time I start my car it starts fine. Drive down the road (5 minutes) turn it off, and go do what I need to do at the shops. Go to start it again and it cranks over but just wont start. I live in a rural town so dont have mechanics available on weekends, but was hoping if anyone else has had a similar problem with their car
Sounds like a engine sensor i'd guess at the crank sensor but to be sure you would need to get the OBD codes read , this will give the exact fault so wont waste money trying sensor(s) on a hit an miss basis, you can buy a code reader online not expensive just make sure it covers your vehicle make then you have a valuable diag equipment for future use
Common is the crank and camshaft sensor ......the break down when they get hot ..if it's the cam sensor it will take ages to start

There can be many causes for the car not starting. Generally it is usually a fuel or a distribution problem. Many fuel problems of this kind are related to electronic injection and ECU. This kind of troubles often need special equipment, and can be fixed only at a well equipped garage, where they can test fuel flow pressure and volume in monitoring ECU feedback at the same time.
Simple things you can do are
Checking and eventually replacing fuel filter.
Checking and eventually replacing air filter.
Check that there is no oil on top of new spark plugs.
In last case try to listen if car is running on three cylinders, this can leave uncombusted oil on cylinder, and mean there are troubles with distribution or camshaft.
It is useless replacing one of the sensors without testing them, and when a sensor is gone you usually get some additional light on your instrument panel. At a garage they will connect straight to the computer and get an error message in return, in case one of the sensors is bad.

Possible causes: Fuel pump relay, Pump, Fuel Filter, Regulator, Crank Shaft Sensor, Camshaft Sensor, Loos Connection(try to wiggle the wiring harness and observe). or faulty Ignation Switch.
Observe if the engine will lack of power first before to shut off, if this is the scenario it could be a fuel pump relay or pump. I suggest you to monitor the fuel pressure first or try to swap fuel pump relay to other as long as same color or figure and observe it.
If the senario is sudden cut off, it coud be a faulty cranck shaft sensor. a faulty cranck shaft sensor is easy to determine using tachometer while cranking, if the sensor is faulty the tachometer will not move or rise even a little bit if it's good it will rise a bit while cranking the engine.
Check fuel pump when the problem occur, try to ignition ON/Off and listen to fuel pump motor noise from underneath (close to rear right side tire), the pump will operates for aprox 5 sec. everytime you turned ON the ignition switch. and if you can't hear noise then you have to focus to fuel system.

could be a problem with the security chip in the key.
