Replaced steering column now car wont start
If it is a different lock cylinder and key than the original, then you will need to use the original lock cylinder and keys. Or have the theft deterrent system reprogrammed to the existing keys that are in the steering column

Try pulling the fuse for the anti theft system and starting. If the car starts normally, then the problem is with the theft system. The theft system will reset itself after a period of time.

if you disconnect the battery and let it sit awhile this will disable the airbag.

Did you check the battery of the car (maybe loose cable)? but if it just happen suddenly, it might be your altenator that wasn't charging your battery. I think once there's enough power gone through the car then your anti-theft system should work as normal again.
