For diesel to get into the engine oil there is a failed seal in the pump that is allowing the diesel in the pump to escape past the shaft and into the sump.. If it occurring slowly and over time then the problem will be leaking injector tips that are dribbling and allowing the fuel into the combustion chamber and down past the rings . Best discuss this with an accredited diesel pump specialist as the results are detrimental to a diesel engine.

I have a 1994 olds with a 3.1 and I have oil coming from the egr valve anything wrong with it????

The egr valve would usually connect the intake and the exhaust manifolds together, often via internal drillings in the cylinder head. An egr valve can be automatic and self-contained or operated by electric or vacuum via the the engine management. Feeding a percentage of exhaust gas into into the intake under certain conditions reduces dangerous exhaust emissions.

Sometimes with diesel engines the pipes, ports and the valve itself become blocked with oily carbon and it isn't unusual to find some free oil in there too but that doesn't usually happen with petrol engines.

I am not sure why you have oil in your car egr valve but I would guess there is a problem needing further investigation.

Hi i have just changed the oil in my toyota hiace van, diesel engine and noticed some water in the old oil... Is this a problem? Why would it happen, what should i do about it?

If you have coolant in the oil you have a problem. If you keep driving it you are going to have a bigger problem. Take it to a shop that is familiar with that engine or you will end up with a BIG repair bill.

My 4ja1 Isuzu pick up, fuego , has a smoke or mist coming out in dipstick. I check the breather and it has the same amount of smoke coming out. But every time I checked the level of oil by dip stick,

I take it that this is a diesel engine. The oil you should be using is diesel oil 20w-40 or 50 next there is blowby from the combustion process that is heating the oil in the sump and it is fuming of. If the engine is running well it is not a great problem
If when doing an oil change the oil is thick and heavy and doesn't like to run out then it is a problem as the paraffins in the oil are burning and reducing the oil to tar.and this means engine rebuild.
If it is a petrol engine then you can use diesel oil in it as the only difference is the cleansing additive in the diesel oil. It helps keep a petrol engine clean inside

Its mitsubishi shogen 2014 model milage;10000miles .when we change engine oil correct rooten.it need 9l engine oil.after that we run 1000miles the oil level go down to low level .it happen in 2times at...

It's not very uncommon for new diesels to use some oil, nor that it turns blackish. Most important: No leaks ? Checked your parking spots for oilspots ? Checked the engine for 'wet/oil' spots ? If you have some, clean 'm up, perhaps with some degreaser and check again after driving for a while, might enable you to locate any leak/bad connection.etc quickly.

Other causes: driving in really cold or changing temperatures or with very heavy duty loads; bad diesel-quality. Also make sure you have enough diesel in the tank, never let it run 'almost' dry/empty as that puts strain on the fuelpump and can clog the fuelfilter and lead to more oil-usage. ANd are you letting the engine come upto to 'normal operating' temperature before use put some serious load on it (you should) ?

When still in doubt, have an diagnostics readout, check out online Shogen forums or just take it to the dealer, you probably still have warranty !

Why diesel and engine oil can together

This is normally due to worn and leaking injector seals. The diesel bypasses the seal at the base of the injector due to the compression of the engine and blown it into the engine where it mixes with, contaminates and dilutes the oil.

You have not mentioned what vehicle it is so this is a general fault. Often if this is the case the seat where the injector is fitted needs to be cut to ensure that the new seal has a flat surface to seal against.

My car is ticking. Sounds like its coming from the valve cover gasket.

put a good squirt of wahing up liquid into engine oil and half litre of diesel ,then run a while say 300 miles or so then change oil and use turbo diesel engine oil ,now if noise stops then just change oil every 6000 miles with a oil filter every third oil change.but if noise persists then repeat with washing up liquid and diesel and leave for a longer period ,your hydraulic tappets are gummed up from not changing the oil regular ,never mind these so called long life oils ---this is what happens when oil is not changed regular

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel. I was running around 80 kph and engine suddenly stop. Tried to restart but engine failed to run.

hi..

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel
-this may because of the seizure of the engine. the piston may got seized with the liner. this happens because the engine oil is not sufficient to lubricate the moving parts. try to service the engine that is the only way for getting back the engine and keep a good track of yout engine oil

What type of engine oil is used for a diesel

go to any auto parts store, like an auto zone and tell them what you are driving. They have a data base which will guarantee that you get the exact oil that you need.

I use Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 , a fully synthetic supreme performance heavy duty diesel engine oil that helps extend engine life while providing long drain capability and potential fuel economy for modern diesel engines operating in severe applications. Mobil Delvac 1 ESP utilizes state-of-the-art technology to deliver exceptional performance in modern low emission engines, including those with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Aftertreatment systems with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF’s) and Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOC’s). Therefore we believe it will be a good oil for the high mileage vehicles with the proper care for your vehicles as recommended by your manufacturers' guidelines.
