Had ample spark and fuel pressure. but pressure dropped to <5psi after running for about five seconds. the previous owner replaced the fuel pump and cleaned tank (thinking it was a fuel issue) come to find out, the fuel pressure is regulated thru the MAF sensor apparently. once i unplugged it,the car ran fine. replaced the MAF and it's all good now.

1998 chevrolet k1500 series cranks but wont start

Contact AVITAL company. This sounds like the alarm is killing the ignition or fuelpump circuit. Sometimes there is a sequence used in alarm resets and you should know it if you are out in the Boonies without a Cell signal.

The engine dies if I don't keep the ignition turned forward. Any ideas?

Pull the distributor cap off and watch the rotor as you crank the motor. If the rotor doesn't turn your timing belt is broken. If the Engine is actually firing while you have the starter engaged but dies immediately when you let off even when you press the accelerator check to make sure the starter isn't staying engaged in the flywheel as that will kill the motor and burn your starter out. If all is good so far do a compression check. If you don't have good compression on all cylinders your engine maybe firing but with no compression will not run.

Remove the key from the ignition. Pull the negative battery cable, and floor the brake pedal for 10 seconds. Replace the cable and then try and start it. That may reset everything.

Car turns over but it wont start it just dies

If the car turns over and starts, and dies faster than you can let go of the key, then the ignition module is most likely the problem.

My 99 Expedition just died while driving. After towing it home it now wont even turn over. I can jump the starter and it engages and I have power to dome light and headlights but when I turn key nothing (...

I has an 86 Mustang that did a similar thing and it turned out that the battery actually shorted out. This happens when one of the plates inside the battery brakes off and then touches another plate. When mine died it was like I turned the iginition off. It wouldn't turn over even with jumper cables.

Not starting

It could be the spark plugs, but probably more serious than that. If you scan it for DTC's (trouble codes) it will probably narrow the issues down for you. The problem could range from the plugs, through the entire ignition system and maybe even the computer. A lot of the parts can be tested prior to replacement too, so you may want to have things like the coil checked unless you feel like buying new anyway. Get the codes if you can it will save you a lot of time and money by narrowing the problem down first.
