however it indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid is not operational --not connected at the wires for the transmission

elec plugs and computer calibration may differ,is it a 904/727 3 speed or and 777/999 4 speed?

What you want/need is a Factory Service Manual for the '87 Ramcharger, it covers each transmission in depth.

you cannot put a 727 trans in place of a a518 trans, will not function due to electronics of gov and o/d, as well as fitting in place, from the looks of your truck is 4x4, repair your a518 trans, les headache in the long run and convent of o/d. have a shift kit put in or modify vavle body for better shifts and cooler flow, power reverse flush your cooler, GOOD LUCK RDJRP

The 318 was an engine fitted to all manner of vehicles dating back for quite a few years.A torqueflite sounds right although your trans woulld be different than sedan etc due to having a trransfer case to have to run.It may be easier to drop it off at auto trans specialist who can recondition the original one.At least it would save hassles from compatibility issues etc.For engine parts look under sedans that used the same engine.Asalvage yard would be a good place to look for the numbers you need .Are there no web sites that deal with your type of truck?4x4 clubs etc
