1006 town & countrydisconnect fuel tank wire connector

Our friends have a 96 T&C mini van, that just quit...it was idling a little rough, so our friend tried to give it some gas...the engine died. I checked for codes...none showed.
next I checked for fuel pressure...none.
the fuel pump relays seem to be pulling in....clicks when key is turned on. fuse looks good.
I tried to take the connector off of the tank, but wasn't able to get it off.. I tried to squeeze the locking tab, also to lift it and wiggle the connector off of the other half of the fitting...I haven't drained or tried to lower the tank, yet...Any suggestions??? Would it be easier to clip and splice the wires back, together agan??
thanks, Rick

Drop the tank check the fuel sock it is plugged or the fuel pump is bad, check the pump, also did they have a blowout? Check the blowout reset button to see if it popped out for some reason.

Sounds like you got a tank of bad gas. That would easily cause your issues. Start by draining as much as you can, put a can of Seafoam in there, add a few gallons of fresh gas, drive to the gas station and tank up, and run that tank down until your gas light comes on before adding more. You may end up needing a fuel filter or plugs again, but with minimal run time on the bad gas, you'll probably be fine.

If the check engine light is not on, stay away from sensors for now. First when is the last time you have had a tune up? PLugs , wires, air and fuel filter. Stalling at a stop can be from the air filter, fuel filter (clogging up), It can also be from the catalytic conveter, these also clog up. It can be from vacuum leaks, this usually has a rough idle also. It wouldn't hurt to check for codes, intermittant codes don't always pop the light on. On some vehicles the o2 sensors can cause a rough idle and stall at stops, ut they usually set a code/ light.
