SOURCE: while driving engine just shuts off

go down and have your alternator checked, it might be weak, causing a surge in power to the ecu, shutting the engine down, if was the battery the car wouldnt fire right back up, another thing might be the fuel filter/pump, these should be the first things to check.

SOURCE: car stalls at traffic lights and stop signs

it could also be the idle control valve not working properly, it could be carboned up, remove and clean with a cloth then replace and try car

SOURCE: car lost drive power when orange wrench light came on.

I-95 is scary enough w/out the car causing problems. There is a problem indicated when the wrench light is illuminated. You need to check for codes stored on the cars computer to determine what is wrong. Parts stores will plug a hand held scan tool into the diagnostic port of the car, and 'read' any codes. They can explain what the codes mean, and suggest ways to fix the problem. This is a free service. If you have any questions at that time, post them here with any code #'s. The condition you describe is 'limp mode' which the car goes into to help prevent damage to any components. When you turned the car off, it reset the system, and the car was drivable. If this happens again, pull over as soon as you safely can, turn the car off, wait a coulple of minutes and restart. Get it checked out soon, as it could lead to other problems,..

O2 bank one is the up stream O2 sensor on the passenger side. You access it from under the suv and through the wheel well. Its a very tight area.

Engine pulses/revs occasionally at stop lights

That's some mileage you've got on the car. It has obviously been well maintained?

Car engines do surge, Deb. Next time you stand next to a bus or truck just listen to the sound of the engine .. an occasional surge and change in the engine note.

It doesn't sound as if you have anything to worry about

I have a 1998 Buick Century. Yesterday while driving the car's oil light would turn-on when I stopped at a stop sign and when I accelerated the oil light turned-off. I pulled into a gas station and...

The oil light coming on when stopped at a stop sign tells me your engine was already damaged before you had the power loss problem. I would not waste the 650 to put in an oil pump. You would be further ahead to just replace the engine.

Ticking sound

Gm will tell you this is normal lifter noise if it from the top of the motor. It could be from the exhaust but you would hear it from under the car more. I do not care for the responce from GM but they say it is ok.

Car shutting off occasionally

I would have your Mass Air Flow sensor checked. It may be dirty and causing you this issue.
