1998 buick riviera blinking check engine soon light

The check engine light is on and occassionally will blink. The car seems to be running fine. Had a bad feeling about gas I put in the car a few months ago - thought it may have been bad or even accidentally diesel because light came on right after that

That most likely is exactly correct. When that light flashes means damage is being done! You will find the catalyst converter is the victim. Only when flashing is this occurring. Should shut down asap when this happens

Has the fuel filter been chg. lately. If it has, maybe a fuel pressure test is in order. Fuel pump might be geeting weak and does not show up until it gets warmed up. Fuel pumps are a common problem on this type of cars.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 buick lesabre. The fix engine soon

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!
Good Luck

SOURCE: 1998 Buick Riviera battery

Make sure that you have the ventilation tubing when replacing the battery. The car is designed to vent battery gases from beneath the car. Substituting a different type battery (without vent ports, a small hole that is located at each end of the battery ) or if you decide to use the battery without the ventilation tubing, you run the risk of an explosion. This is due to the proximity of the battery to the fuel pump, which is also located beneath the seat.Underhood batteries vent naturally into the air within the engine compartment. In your car there is a small hole in front of your battery that leads to the underside of your car.Your tubing is designed to carry the battery's vapors way and direct it out of your car through this hole.

gear position indicator will start blinking a code(?) You may think it's blinking a code , but it's not . Doesn't have the capability to do that . Traction, security light on - take it and have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes checked . Sounds like you have insturment cluster problem , Without testing anything that would be a guess . Take it to a qualifieed repair shop an have it diagnosed .

How do you turn off the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light

For Buick Le Sabre, 1995-99, when "CHANGE OIL SOON" light is on:
  • Access the reset button in the glove box (refer to car manual if required).
  • With the engine off, set the ignition switch to the RUN position
  • Press and hold the reset button in the glove box for at least 5 seconds
  • The light should blink a few times (4) then go out!
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Headlight is out on passenger side of 1998 buick riviera. It will sometimes blink when I hit it. The whole assembly seems loose. The side light cornering lamp works. The wiring all looks secure.

Yep sounds like you need a new headlight bulb The flashing is the tungsten fillament inside of the bulb breifly contacting the broken halves together when hitting it..Replace the bulb and all should be good. Note some times the light may stay on ,, this is because the broken halves arc welt themselves and break again upon cooling after you turn lights off ...good luck

More than likely, you need the magnet on the timing gear replaced. This will require the timing cover to come off.

'97 riviera left blinker comes on but does not blink

The left blinker comes on, but does not blink? Either the front or rear bulb on that side is burned out (turn signal filament only). U can swap bulbs from good side to determine which is the bad bulb, or by carefully checking the bulb filament for damage. Let me know if u need more info.
