Without testing hard to say . Do you know anything about automotive electrical systems , OBD 2 engine management system ? IAC - idle air control ? What engine sensor data is ? Hooking up a professional type scanner , reading DTC'S etc.... How to test electrical circuits using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ?

I would suggest checking your wiring (core wire on the distributor, plug wires and the negative battery ground) I would imagine that the forward motion of the vehicle is possibly making your wires lose connectivity and making the car stall. Just a thought though.

Per your observations, I would suggest you check the fuel pump harness ground connection to the body. It should be located in the rear of the car and will have a several black wires with it screwed into the body.
I believe you are having a feed back problem caused by a loose or damaged ground connection.
You can also look at the fuel pump harness at the tank, find the black wire for the fuel pump ground, solder in a new ground wire and run it to the frame rail and screw it down. That will give you a good ground and the problem will go away.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.

SOURCE: 1996 pontiac grand am steering wheel is locked

Probably not. That's just the interlock between the ignition switch and the steering. **** the steering wheel very hard to one side or the other as you turn the key. It's more common than you might think and all car are guilty of it.

Unfortunately, you might have to replace every sensor until the problem goes away. It is a matter of process by elimination. I am in the same position. Good luck

My 1999 grand prix stalls and dies at stops.

My Pontiac Grand Prix is also a 99, it has 216,+ thousand miles on it, it runs great, idles good, I need to replace the oxygen sensor tho as it shuts off on me while driving or sometimes coming to a stop. You might try checking the fuel filter and pump as well.

Ticking sound

Gm will tell you this is normal lifter noise if it from the top of the motor. It could be from the exhaust but you would hear it from under the car more. I do not care for the responce from GM but they say it is ok.
