My car lost power on the freeway and will not restart. check engine light on

Probably overheated...check coolant and oil. If they are mixed or low....you have problems

The oil light coming on when stopped at a stop sign tells me your engine was already damaged before you had the power loss problem. I would not waste the 650 to put in an oil pump. You would be further ahead to just replace the engine.

spark plugs? spark plug wires? coil? if it shuts off when hot, and starts when cold, coil could be problem....could be radiator stopped up causing it too heat, and will go off wait a few and it'll start back up...
