Can't find serpentine belt tensioner on 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee

right, for the 4 liter,
  1. Loosen the rear power steering pump mounting bolts using a ratchet and 13mm socket or a 13mm box wrench.
  2. Loosen the pump upper pivot bolt, lower locknut and the pump adjusting bolt using a ratchet and 13mm socket or a 13mm box wrench.
For the V8
  1. Attach a socket or wrench to the pulley mounting bolt on the automatic tensioner and rotate the tensioner assembly clockwise until the tension has been removed from the belt.
  2. Remove the belt from the idler pulley first and then from the vehicle.

I am unable to loosen the tension pulley on a 93 jeep cherokee.I have loosened the bolts but it will not slide to allow belt to fit.

I'm going to assume you have either a four cyl or an inline 6cyl...The tension is provided at the power steering pump. Loosen the fasteners and look underneath. There is a "jack bolt" that is just under the pump that faces the left fender. Screwing it in or out moves the pump and adjusts belt tension.

Does the power steering pully need to be removed to replace the alternator on my Jeep Grand Cherokee?

If for any reason the pulley is in your way, remove the pump not the pulley. Alternator is on the other side of the engine...why remove it? The pump is the adjustment for the belt. (loosen bolts and use the transverse bolt underneath to adjust tension)

Can not find tension release for the serpentine fanbelt on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Loredo. Help....!

On some Jeeps the tension is held by the alternator adjustment and there may be no tensioner pulley. See if the alternator bolts into an adjustable arm mount. If so - loosen the alternator and rotate it to release the tension.

Adjust wiper arm tension on 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee

there is no tension adjustment if the arm is too loose and dosen't put enough pressure on the windshield you need to replace the arm you can bend the center of the arm very slightly and get a little more tension BUT the arms are over 15 years old and teh springs are probably weak

2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 liter engine timing belt replacement

If you have the same pulley arrangement that most 4.0 engines have that pulley is an idler not a tensioner. Your power steering pump has a pivot bolt, and a slide under the pump. You adjust belt tension using the pump.
