Door locks have mind of their own

When you hit the auto door lock not all doors lock all the time. when you hit unlock the same thing. doors that locked might not unlock and not the same locks lock and unlock all the time. sometimes my key will unlock my locked door and sometimes not. I just decided to never lock the doors and hope i don't get locked out. my back driver side door decided one day to lock and will not unlock no matter what.

The fords are well known for the little motors inside the doors to freeze up and stop working!!
but since you say sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, could mean that your BCM is bad!!
(BCM= Body Control Module)

2008 GMC Sierra 1500.The only door lock that unlocks is the driver's door. Using either the fob or driver's side or passengers side lock buttons. Just the driver's side will open or lock.

test for power and ground at the non-working actuators. If they're getting power and ground when you activate the door locks, the actuators are bad. Keep in mind that they all work the same number of cycles, so it's no unusual for multiple actuators to fail at the same time.

Drivers door lock unlocks intermittently with key fob

Steve, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

When a door lock is active intermittently it can be a couple of things. (1) The door lock actuator can be a the point of going bad.(2) The Key Fob unlock button can be bad and you have to press it several time to work OR if it is unlocking the door by itself at time a sticking button can cause this issue as well. Hope this helps and have an awesome day. If you like visit my auto repair website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

2005 Chevrolet Silverado Automatic door locks

I assume you mean that the central locking system will not lock the doors but you can do so manually.

Get inside the vehicle and close all doors.

On each rear door, lock and unlock the mechanism manually a couple of times. In other words do not use the key pad.

Then leave both rear doors in the locked position (manual locking) and operate the lock button on you key pad to operate the central locking system. Wait a few seconds then hit unlock on your key pad and a few seconds later hit lock on your key pad.

If the system fails to lock your rear doors you will need to get the vehicle to an auto electrician to check out the issue and rectify it for you. There are a number of possible causes which cannot be identified without physically checking the system. So you will need to have this rectified by a professional.

I have a problem with my central locking on my 2005 focus . the obc tells me my rear passeger door is open and the drivers door . so the car wont lock, the luggae compartment is ok . any help with this...

It's unlikely you can rectify this problem by playing around with the CL system so you will need to take it to the dealer or auto electrician to fix.
In any event you should be able to manually lock all passenger doors on the vehicle from inside the car and the drivers door from outside with the key.

Before you take the car to the auto shop to fix the CL system try this if you have not already.

1. Manually lock - then manually unlock - all doors (except the driver's door) from inside the car and make sure they are fully shut.

2. Then manually lock all doors a 2nd time except the driver's door.

3. Hit the lock button on your car key pad to activate the central locking system. This should lock the drivers door but with the fault it probably won't. Wait a few seconds then hit unlock on your key pad. Wait again and then hit lock once more. If it will not lock all doors you know what to do next.

Un work of the doors auto control lexus

1. sitting in driver seat, with driver's door OPEN, press lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR to lock all doors, then manually unlock driver door only.
2. Insert YOUR key in ignition, DO NOT TURN, then remove key.
3. Using the same lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock-unlock in 5 cycles
4. Shut door.
5. Open door.
6. Using the same lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, again slowly press lock-unlock in 5 cycles
7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to 'on' position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key.
8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once by herself). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over.
9. Now using the remote, push lock button, hold for one second, then release the button. The locks should cycle once. If not, start over and go slower.
10. Close the door.
11. Open the door.
12. Press the lock button on the remote. The locks should do a lock-unlock cycle.
13. Close the door
14. Press the lock button on the remote, the doors should lock.
15. Press unlock button and the doors should unlock.

Long beep to follow if successful.

95 Grand Cherokee power locks clicking

You may want to check the wiring harness in the door jam. Those comonly break the wires and cause issues with windows, door locks and other things. The harness boot can be pulled back to inspect. It is a little difficult to put back. If your locks usually lock when put into gear then that is not factory. Factory auto lock does that at 17 MPH

2005 Astro Van, when I put the vehicle into Park all the doors unlock. I only want the driver door to unlock as a safety precaution. I will manually unlock the other doors if I have passengers. I do not...

hello milford,

i don't think you can eliminate your problem, the door lock feature is being run by a single module and all doors are connected to it in parallel

so i you want that only the driver's side door would unlock as you put it in park, then you would isolate the rest of the doors to the module but will in turn not controll the rest for locking puposes.

you can not have both features. either control one door or controll all doors.

its your choice.

tnx for using fixya.
