Son was changing flat. broke stud on drivers rear. do i just pound out the old stud and pound in the new?
Will have to remove LR drum, The stud should drive out fairly easily, as a precaution, apply penetrating oil and let soak prior to driving it out. Install the new stud..about a $4 item, (compared to $100 to get one fixed at the toyota store, then put your wheel back on, snug up all lugs then torque to 83 ft/lbs.
Basicly yes. drive the oild stud out, but, pull the new stud in with stacked washers and a lug nut put on so flat is against washer. Lubricate stud where it ggoing into axle and the washers and lug nut threads. - good luck - Ned
Half right...pound out, use a stack of washers and put nut on backwards and draw stud in. Oil on washers and stud threads helps.
