Can you tell me were my ac compressor control relay is located in my 1998 bmw

The compressor control relay and compressor clutch are the same thing.

You have fuses and relays . The fuses are or should br labled inside each cover if still there as well as on the fuse block itself, If not I can look under the hood of mine and tell you. The relays from left to right thats passenger to driver and numbered including the empty spaces as mine hase three on the right and two on the left with three emty slots in between. Now Olds seems to have kept this araingement for some time also my '98 88 has ABS as part of TCS but no relays there and diferent climate controls over the years it is posible you have more or less than are presnt on mine the complete list is as follows
#1 - AC compressor control for the compressors clutch
#2 - Horn relay
#3 - AC blower fan motor on, at low speed on the '98
#4 - AC blower motor off or high speed depending on year, not present on my "98
#5 - ABS pump relay ,not present on my '98
#6 - ABS Main relay also labled as pump relay for some years, not present on '98
#7 - High speed cooling or radiator fan
#8 - Low speed cooling or radiator fan

If the temperature control is on cool....sounds like you have other problems with AC. ( compressor not working, needs R134,) Check under the hood for a box that has fuses in it, their are also relays in it. Look for the relay marked AC.

Check ac relay or compressor magnetic clutch..

The only thing it could be is the conrtol wire of the A/C compressor clutch relay is shorted to one of the wires grounding at the alternator . The PCM - engine computer controls the grounding for the A/C compressor clutch relay. Find the A/C compressor clutch relay in the under hood fuse box , pull the relay out of the fuse box an look on the bottom . You will see four sets of numbers . 30 & 87 plus 85 & 86 . Take an ohm meter an check pin 85 to ground with the ground wire's behide the alternator connected , you will have continuity . Disconnect the ground behind the alternator an you will probably have a open circuit . When the motor was changed wire's were pinched or something . Most likely . Under system click on HVAC , then under subsystem click on HVAC controls . Click the search button ,then the blue link . Fourth diagram down is for the A/C compressor clutch relay circuit. Don't know if know how a computer controlled relay circuit work's . Looking at the diagram .The DB/OR - dark blue with orange trace wire would have to be shorted to one of those ground wire's for the compressor clutch to stay engaged .

Did you check the AC relay? Usually located under the hood, try swapping it with another relay with the same part number that isn't required to run the vehicle. If the AC now works, then replace the relay. If not , then verify compressor operation. With the engine running, watch the compressor clutch while someone else turns on the AC control. The clutch should engage and begin to run. If not, then find the pressure cycling switch usually located on the accumulator. Disconnect the harness and jumper the contacts. With the engine off and the key turned on , turn the AC control on. You should now be able to watch the clutch engage and disengage by removing and replacing the jumper lead. The blower motor relay is located in behind the climate control center mounted to the ac box.The window relays are located in the power distribution center under the hood number k-5 and k-7.

The idle is controlled by the the idle speed actuator which is part of the throttle body.
