SOURCE: squeaking mouse noise from the passenger front tire area.

If I had to make a guess, I'll bet the noise is the wear indicators on your front brake pads just beginning to touch the rotors. If you remove the wheel, you should see a small metal tab on the rear of the pad. If it is very close to the rotor, replace the front pads. I've seen lots of people just bend the tab back to stop the noise, but if you do that it's almost guaranteed that you will forget 'till the rotors are all scored up. So, do it now!!

Brakes make a whistle noise when applied and sometimes a low grown or grinding when coming to a slow stop or start.

A grinding or rumbling noise can also be symptoms of a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint in a driveshaft. A worn wheel bearing can also cause a 'whistling' sound (as can a worn CV joint).

A grinding noise with brakes is either worn pads causing metal to metal contact on the brake disk/rotor, or the brake backing plate catching on a spinning rotor ... or a loose/missing anti squeal brake shim (they stop the pads from rattling and vibrating).

However, as you say a mechanic has looked at the brakes and can't find anything wrong .. I think I would begin to suspect a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint on the driveshaft (front wheel drive cars).

Makes a whistle but stops while braking

the whistle indicates a failing brake booster
when you apply the brakes , a valve is opened to allow air into one side of the diaphragm and assists you to push on the brakes
if a hole is developed in the diaphragm or the seal to the valve then it whistles or squeaks
get a proper diagnosis done at an accredited specialist brake shop and a quote for the repairs

Rpm increases when brake is applied

Your power brake booster has a leak. With the pedal depressed sometimes you can hear the leak coming out of apply shaft area under dash.

Squeaking and grinding noise when I apply the brakes

Try replacing or resurfacing your rotors and brake hardware. Using brake pads similar to the oem will also help stop any problems.

Passenger wheel chirp / squeak that stops when brake is applied

sounds like a brake pad warning clip is making contact with the rotor applying brakes presses pad and quiets the noise. have pad wear checked by mechanic.

Brakes squeeking

Try spraying the calipers and pads with brake clean usually the squek is from brake dust build up. The caliper slides are the only places where high temp. synthetic caliper grease is used try that as well.
