SOURCE: 1993 lincoln towncar sunroof switch

I know this is an old blog but some people may still find it helpful. There are 4 wires in the roof window switch hooked up to 2 smaller harnesses that have 2 wires each.

Remove the switch and use only the metal contacts in the harnesses. One should use a light tester to confirm which one is the ground and live. this is how it turned out for my car.

One harness has a light blue wire with a black stripe, and a black wire. the blue one is live, the black one is ground.

The other harness has a red wire and a darker blue wire (silly ford) these are the motor connect and return wires.

You must hook up thhooked to (example, if the live wire was connected to blue motor wire and the ground wire was connected to red motor wire and it opened it, that would mean you would want to put the live wire to the red motor wire and the ground wire to the blue motor wire)

When doing these wire connections, it is advised that you have the ignition turned off. Once you make all the connections properly, you can turn on the ignition and if done correctly, the roof window will move. Once it is closed, remove the wires frome the harnesses and LEAVE THE ROOF WINDOW ALONE UNTIL YOU HAVE A NEW SWITCH.
e power (Live, light blue) wire to a motor wire. You must then run another wire from the other motor wire. To complete this circuit there is only one place that this last wire can go and it is to the ground. once this is connected the roof should either open more or close.

To reverse the operation of the roof, simply reverse the position of the live and ground wires in respect to which motor wires they are

SOURCE: I need to find the

my sunroof of my daewoo leganza has a way that you can let the sunroof go up so you can check where the problem is at like mine the problem I had is that there is a plastic seal around the whole sunroof that some of it came off so if you have this problem also to buy JB weld and mix them together to where this seal is at around the sunroof but if you buy JB weld the 4 minutes when you mix the two tubes together that you only have 4 minutes before it sets up where you want it to go so make sure you mix both tubes on top of car but on a piece of cardboard. The weld can be taken off with acetone and also you can use plastic tight gloves when useing the weld. This weld will make a seal as well so this helps for water to not come into car.

How do I repair the headliner on the sunroof of my 2009 Lincoln MKX

3M makes an excellent spray glue for this. Clean off any loose foam first, spray both the cloth and the backing, let get tacky and stick together.

My Lincoln MKX Sunroof isn't closing completely. Also my side view mirrors not working, I have to close them manually.

If it is able to open fully, but only closes part way it probably just needs to be lubricated. White lithium grease will do the trick. Get it in a spray can with a tube that can be attached to the spray nozzle. There is a set of tracks for the glass and one for the sunshade.

Fully open the glass, then spray some into the track where you can see the roller in the track. Move the glass forward part way, then spray some into the track at the back end of the glass. Now work the glass back and forth, open and close to distribute the grease.

After a few times it should fully close. Once fully closed, open fully then close fully. It ought to work correctly now. This worked for my Lincoln MKX and also for a Ford ZX3 sunroof.

You might need to do the same for the sunshade track before the glass will operate properly.

Recommend to do this annually. It doesn't require as much when regularly maintained.

Front windows and sunroof open on their own when car is turned of

Had the exact same thing happen to my 2009 MKX. It has happened twice now. Today I discovered that if I press and HOLD the unlock button on my key fob, the two front windows and sunroof will open! Mystery solved! So...the key fob must have been pushed up against something in my purse. I wonder if there is a way to turn this feature off!?

The power windows (front only) and sun roof open while we were away from our car (2007 Lincoln MKX) with the keys and remote in our possession.

If you hold the unlock button down on the remote down for three seconds the power windows will go down and the sunroof will open. It is possible the button got pressed when you put the key in your pocket.
