My 1995 Nissan maxima Gle won't start. Everything lights up when I turn the key. What's wrong with it?

No, engine doesn't crank. Didn't try boost because radio works and everything.

    automatic v6

I can hear a click when I turn the key. It seems as if I can't have key all the way in. Just slightly from all the way in. Somewhat of a hard turn, but it will start. Thanks. I also use my shift for my steering wheel often as well.

Does it even try to turn over, as in engine cranking? Tried a boost, if yes what happened?

automatic or standard transmission & what engine?

Try moving shifter through all other gears & see if it kicks at all while holding key to start. Can you at least hear a click under hood on drivers side down near transmission when your turn key? Try a boost just to see, if it's not too much problem. Your starter should be down low on drivers side near back of engine, see if you can reach down & feel wires on solenoid & see if any are loose, or look with a flashlight & try wiggling them and see if it helps at all.

"Warning Lights" on the dashboard of "1995 Nissan Maxima"

The warning lights coming on with the key in the on position is normal. If the key is turned to the start position and the engine will not crank over, suspect an internal starter motor problem or lack of power to the starter solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter motor with a blunt object while someone holds the key in the crank position to see if it starts when this problem occurs. If it starts using this procedure, the starter motor will be defective

1995 Nissan Maxima alarm system

Hey, I bought my 1995 Nissan Maxima GLE brand new back in July 1994 with factory installed alarm, it just doen't make any sound when you arm or disarm it with remote. The only way you can tell whether it is armed or disarmed is from the lever position of your doors and the blinking red light under the dash. Only the newer versions of Nissan/Infiniti's has the "Audio/Silent" mode button on the remote which allows you to activate/deactivate you car alarm with an audiable sound or no sound at all. No worry, there is nothing wrong with your remote or car alarm.

Engine cranking but no start

If your key is not programmed for the car, then it will have this issue. I bought a 99 Maxima 3 weeks ago. One of the keys was programmed and worked perfectly. The other would turn the car over and stop it immediately. If you do this too many times without the key being programmed from the dealer or another source, it will erase all keys that are programmed and lock down the ignition.

96 Maxima wont start all the time

that sounds like you may need to replace the starter. the click you hear is the solenoid. the part that is just as important is the starter motor. unfortunately they are sold as one

NEed to attach CD changer to 1995 MAxima GLE

best bet if you have limited wiring skills and are not shore on wiring diagrams you should properly take it to a good service center/ auto electrician to have it done.
it is not a overly hard thing to install but if you do it wrong it can have some very bad consequences.
at the best it may not work our you will get it wright at the worst it may cause a fire our short out other electrics in the car that may render your car un drivable eg. blowing up the cars computer ( very expensive to fix ) so again if you realy want me to send you the info i can just let me no but i dont recomend it

1997 nissan maxima

That was happening to my 97 GLE as well. I wound up having to replace the alternator. Good thing I did my mechanic said it could have gone up in flames if I'd waited. I'd ask a knowlegdable mechanic or dealer first, it was $200+.
