If by "gas smells" you mean bad body smells (as opposed to gas fuel smell), then I would get your air conditioning checked out. You get a fungal build up and treatment and sterilising the system fixes this.

I am only guessing but I would thoroughly check the fuel lines and gas cap.

My 626 smells like gas if I fill the tank to full. Must be a bad connection on the top of the tank.. Doesn't smell if I don't fill it over 3/4.

Could be two different problems.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look at the vapor canister for the gas tank. Its usually mounted in the engine compartment.
If you have a small oil leak, the fumes will be sucked into the passenger compartment thru the cowl vents.

Big chance of a leak somewhere.

it is likely that the access plate that the pump is under is not sealed, most likely the O ring seal got installed wrong or cut and gas is leaking by it, not enough to drip on the ground but enough to smell.

NO NO NO.....GO TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO A SMOG STATION AND ASK THEM TO TEST THE GAS CAP FOR YOU. VISUALLY LOOKING AT A GAS CAP WILL NOT TELL YOU GOOD OR BAD. THEY CHARGE 10.00 AND WILL TELL YOU IF THE GAS CAP IS LEAKING. DONE IT TOO MANY TIME WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER.
