Turn signals I have a 1998 Buick Century. The rear turn signal flashers were flashing fast but the front signals were not flashing. I checked the left front and the socket and bulb were burnt. Upon cleaning them it started working properly. When I checked and cleaned the right side the turn signals stopped working. Since the flashers were still working when I attempted to clean it I thought I had blown a fuse. I checked all the fuses on the passenger side with a test light, paying special attention to the one marked "turn signals". All fuses checked good. Can you please give me some idea as to what happened here. Thanks

Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? How to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? You have high resistance in the circuit . Use voltage drop to find the problem .

SOURCE: Turn signal left front won't flah

I dealt with a similar problem on an 01 Alero (very similar car) and found that the wire that grounds the signal filament of the bulb was broken inside the harness. I tapped into it and grounded it to the chassis and resolved the problem. It's no guarantee but if you have a multimeter, check each wire's continuity to ground as well as the impedance between each of the wires on the harness, on both front signals (for comparison purposes), and it'll show you if you have a problem such as the one I dealt with.

On my grandmother's '98 Buick Century, the right front signal stopped working. Rear right signal blinking fast. I have replaced the front amber bulb and socket and still have same issue.

Could be a wiring problem, or the turn signal switch.
You could check the wiring with a meter, and also by using the emergency flashers. Those use a different circuit from the turn signals on most cars. If the light works using the 4-way flashers, the problem is probably the turn signal switch.
You need to know if the socket has power and ground when the lamp should be flashing.

Harzards flash turn signals dont

Hazards have a different flasher than the turn signals.
Make sure both front and rear turn signal bulbs are good. If one is burned out, that side might flash funny or not at all. If bulbs are good, then it could be the flasher.
Usually the turn signal flasher is a small module about an inch or two in size, and located near the fuses or it might be under the dash near the steering column hanging by a couple of wires. Pull it out, bring to a car parts place to get a replacement, and plug it back in.

The bulb in front is somehow not getting voltage. If memory serves, that headlight assy. has a circuit board of some type, and your problem most likely lies there.

Left turn signal not working in the rear, but flashes fast in the front...1998 Buick Century

With a 12 volt test lamp check for power at the lamp socket. With the test light properly grounded it should flash like a turn signal. If you have no power at the socket you have an open circuit (broken wire or bad connection). If you have power at the socket you have a bad ground.

1998 Buick Century Signal Issue

Remove the bulbs one at a time and check for dirt and corrosion at the contacs inside the sockets. The corrosion will cause higher than normal resistence and will make the signal to flash rapidly. As this only happens to the right side only check the right side.
