Boot is locked on volvo s40 - 2005 Volvo S40

Take the rear seat out.

change the centrol locking relay.

i too have the same problem but my boot does not open at all and the message says boot lid open

I had this same problem and I kept having to switch the key the opposite way till it worked.
Boy was it a problem. Your could be the same problem.

If it is the same as the 2007 model.
The top of the key is a small slide switch.
You slide it and pull a vanity key out.If the glovebox has been locked it also possibly locks the boot with the same switch.
You will probably need to put key in glovebox lock and turn counter clockwise.
That key is to lock the seats to stop anyone getting into the boot via the fold down system as well.

remove the radio and post the chassis number ,i have some computer programmes that will generate the code,try looking on the sun visor or in the boot under carpet for a sticker with the number .

My son was missing with the valet parking key while I was driving. When we got home and tried to open the trunk it wouldn't. It also made this buzzing sound when I push on the trunk latch.

there are special tools for this in the back of the head to lock them in, can you send me more info

open the boot and remove the carpet tailored to th boot. Easily done by gently undoing the plastic screws and pulling the gromet it sits in out i one piece. After removing the carpet acces to the lamp is easy.
