Im assuming you mean that the vehicle wont move when put it in gear and its an automatic! Check the transmission fluid level if it is ok check if vehicle will move in any other gear reverse 1 or L etc. If not it maybe a torque converter issue and maybe best for a transmission shop to sort

there is currently a recall being performed on altimas and there is also a updated crank position sensor check with your dealer for open recalls on your vehicle (its just a phone call away have your vin # ready (located on left bottom of windshield if your facing it from in front of vehicle it is on lower right side of windshield - also look on driver door jamb.

Probably sensors! I have already replaced the crankshaft positioning sensor once, nissan replaced it once under recall and now it is bad again! Plus my speed sensor is bad too! Go to any part store and get diagnostic test ran, it will tell what sensors are bad.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

SOURCE: CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR 20002 NISSAN ALTIMA

1st, Nissan had a recall on Crank position sensors for 2002-2006 Altima's. Check with you dealer before you go doing any repairs. You may discover you can get your car repaired at no charge.
NHTSA Campaign ID number :O7V527000
Symptom: Erratic behavior. Stalling and no starts and very difficult to diagnose due to the time frame in which the component actually malfunctions. The warranty should not be limited to the original owner.
I would also need more specifics as to which engine you have so I might assist you in where the location of the sensor is. The Altima had a 4 and a 6 cyl engine offered that year.

My 2002 Altima SL 2.5 drives and shifts fine for an hour or so. Then it won't shift from first gear.

In spite of what Firestone did it still sounds like you have a defective speed sensor. Other people have also had this problem and it was solved by replacing the speed sensor.

I hope it resolves your problem.

Nissan altima 2005 not shifting or showing speed

The speed sensor is probably disconnected or the wiring was damaged. The CPU needs this input to demand shifts.

I just replaced the transmission in a 04 Nissan Altima and the check engine light is still on and the car does not shift gears right especially in the mornings. The front end also rattles when it is in...

Check to be sure you plugged in the speed sensor on the transmission. If the ECU can not read the transmission speed through the output it will not allow the transmission to shift into the next gear. It should throw a code also.

I have 2005 Nissan altima that wont start. It cranks but wont start. I checked the battery with a portable load tester, good. No codes or check engine light. Fuel pump pumps fuel, wont even come on with...

Nissans are known to have problems with ignition coils which would not show up on code reader. I would start with that. Pull a plug and hold it to ground to see how strong the spark is while turning engine over. If the plugs are wet when you take them out then you can be sure it is in all probability related to coils.
