I don't really know how you came to the conclusion that they had to much pressure, but I doubt new hoses had any effect on how it ran. It sounds like it is ready for a good tune up, with new spark plugs and wires, oil change, cap and rotor etc

lets forget the collant issue, the truck also hesitates and at time wont pick up speed, three code thats been there 2 yrs befor the problem started which is crank collation, and two o2 sensors. but when out to eat and just checked under body one of the catalitic conv look like it has gotten hotter than the other. they are not even a month old and one looks more worn.

  • Montana Apr 15, 2014

Okay, unfortunately I don't have much experience with the 5.7 vortec (witch I'm assuming you have) i have heard of bad o2 sensors effecting performance because they relay information to the truck to control fuel/air ratios. Sorry I can't be of more help and I hope you come across the solution to your problem soon

the best thing to get is the Haynes manual for your car at advanced auto or autozone or somewhere like that and the book will tell you how to take everything apart and put it back. i think the manual is about $16.00

sensor is part of the overflow tank. lift the tank up and unplug the plug on the bottom. you can just cut off the plug and splice the two wires together or take a bread tie and strip off the paper then jump out the plug. to replace the sensor you must buy a new tank.

SOURCE: 95' Cadillac DeVille has no heat

There is several ways to see. 1. It could still be the heater core, try blowing air in to IN house, if it comes out the OUT hose strong, its not that. 2. It is posible there is an a pocket in the system. Try bleeding the air hose, that could be it. 3. Take the glove box out, disconnect the air bag CAREFULLY! Start the car, And turn the heat all the way up, then all the way down. U should see a arm move back and forth. MAke sure it goes ALL the way shut, and open. 4. It could be that the doors in the dash don't work. I'm not sure how to do this. Hope the other work!!

Usually, hoses pop off if the radiator/expansion tank cap is incorrect/broken. Find out if this "mechanic" changed the cap, if they did, get the old one back or get a replacement from the dealer. I have never gotten a dependable replacement from any parts stores. If they didn't change it, change it anyway and see what happens.

MIL light is on...code P2181 I replaced Coolant & Thermostat...thinking of replacing Fuel Cap & CTS. Think i should replace fuelpump? The car has began to have a slight hesitation every now 7...

Fuel cap has nothing to do with this code. you are going in the right direction, changing the thermostat and coolant was good now i would replace the coolant temp sensor as you listed you were going to do. good day.

How do I change or unstick my thermastat in my 1997 tahoe?

Just follow the top radiator hose to the engine and find the bell or ball shaped housing, You don't have to remove the hose, but you want to catch the coolant, pull the 2 bolts out and have a new thermostat and gasket ready, use no sealant, the thermostat cannot be fixed just replaced, Get the recommended temp, 165 or whatever, you should be all set, put the coolant back in. Hope this helps.

My chevy tahoe takes to long to heat up

To check if the thermostat is bad, start a cold engine, and feel both of the radiator hoses.
While they should both start cold, only one should heat up slowly. The other should stay cold.
Then after the warming one gets hot, only then should the other hose also suddenly get hot.
If both slowly get warm, then the thermostat needs to be replaced.
(By the way, make sure the coolant is full.)

Engine gets hoat some time, no heat from heater. top hose seems hot to touch lower hose is cool. Drained radiator few weeks ago and problem began

Theres a strong possibility being you just changed the coolant a few weeks ago that theres air in the cooling system not allowing the coolant to cirrculate properly, look at your top radiator hose is theres a small bleed valve at the top of the thermostat housing when the upper hose attactes to? If so loosen the bleed valve and allow the cooling system to purge the air out of the system you can tell when the air is out of the system when a steady stream of coolant starts to flow out of the bleed valve, if theres no bleed valve take the top radiator hose off of the engine side and allow the cooling system to purge the air out through the top of the engine that way, but it definatly sounds like theres air in the system not allowing for the cooling system to cool properly...

Where is the thermostat in a 900s oh. 97 saab 900S Well my car was overheating and I notice in this model car if you need your oil changed it will overheat. So there is oil and all my fluids are full...

Oil change interval has nothing to do with operating temperature. If your coolant is full, feel the upper radiator hose, when the vehicle is up to temp. if cool , thermostat is back from that hose,

Look for air bleeds, and read owners manual, some cars have coolant bleeds. Also, heater on high when filling coolant or risk bubbles...

My thought is that your fans may not be kicking in. They should cycle on and keep temp low enough. test them.

My '97 Tahoe overheated and now it won't start

Probably just low on coolant causing air pockets. Start it up with the radiator cap of and add coolant, then check to see if the water pump, intake gaskets, or coolant bypass connector on passenger front corner of the intake manifold is leaking.
