When trying to cool the driver, nothing but warm air comes out of all the driver side vents. The passenger side is fine and cools very well. I would say the temperature difference is probably 15 degrees F warmer on the drivers side. In Sept. 2013, the dealer vacuum checked and recharged the system. Didn't really help much. Avalon has only 24,000 miles and is 4 yrs old. It is garaged 99.9% of the time.

Try an A/C recharge. What is the temps of the discharge air from the vents?

sound like you have a diverter valve some where in the unit that is not switching the air flow as it should. sometimes just playing with the controls back and forth may free it up. If not then you will have to go into the vent system and find the valve that switches that function. Good Luck

jasonjacob1 is right. If the air from the A/C is not cool, the only cause is low or empty refrigerant. This means that the gas that your vehicle uses to produce cool air is gone from the system. The solution is not to recharge the system but to locate and fix the leak, then recharge the system.

there are two a/c lines that run down the fire wall under the van to the rear.right around the bottom of the fire wall the is a connection point on both lines. you will find a leak there .replace the orings and recharge system. also you will need two specail toyota tools to release the couplings.i have done this repair on several sienna's. let me know if this helps.

It sounds like a heater blend door issue inside the heater box that is actually not closing all the way to allow either cool or hot air or visa/versa.
