I have replaced the glow plug relay and code still present
SOURCE: I just replaced the glow plug relay dur to hard starting
HAVE YOU REPLACED ALL YOUR GLOW PLUGS RECENTLY? EVEN THOUGH THE GLOW PLUGS APEAR TO BE WORKING I FIND WITH AGE THEY NO LONGER HEAT UP QUICKLY ENOUGH BEFORE CONTROLER TIMES OUT. THEREFOR CREATES A HARD OR NO START CONDITION.
SOURCE: Just changed plugs running well 1 day later
hello
make sure the plug are gaped properly, check connector and vacc lines to the EGR, if the code comes back first check diapharam with a vac pump if it ok just clean the valve and passages do not use carb cleaner it has lubricant that can gum up in high temp, brake cleaner will work best.
good luck

Check for fuses first. The Glowplug timer is the proper name for the part that responds to Temperature when starting your engine. When the engine is cold, of course it is on longer and can cycle making a click and intermittently dimming the lights on your truck. When the engine is warm, your gowplugs may not even fire as the engine is using compression alone to fire up.
Also, Ford did make a Severe Weather model that kept the glowplugs on longer. If you stay in Alaska or a climate with consistent subzero temperatures you may need it.

Instead of going crazy and throwing parts at it, buy or rent a scan tool.
