Cant get inspected bc of cigarette outlett is grounding out

Any DC circuit needs a ground. That is how the power flows from in the circuit.

Have the alternator tested for low output...when running, could be producing enough volts to keep running...ie 10-11...Your recharging system requires 14 + volts to recharge properly while running...there are also times when the starter has a short, that can cause your overnight low battery too...These tests should be free at your local parts stores.

The lighter in a Chevy Lumina can get lost easily if you routinely pull it from the socket to plug in electronic devices like GPS systems, cell phone chargers and laptops. If so, you need to replace it.

hot wire shorted to ground, Bad receptacle, remove receptacle and inspect. Look for damage. Most likely wire problem or faulty unit.

Turn you ignition switch to the on position ,does the CK ENG Lite appear, if yes this is a good indication. Your DLC (diagnostic link connector) should have battery voltage at pin 16 and ground at 4 and 5,If you can verify that your vehicle has this working order then its there problem and not yours

check your cigarette lighter fuse that fuse usually powers your computer port

not good. should have plugged in a keep alive in the cigarette outlett. need to take it to bmw to have them reprogram the elect steering system

On some vecicles, fuses actually power more than one thing listed on cover. Check each fuse with a tester or remove to inspect. If none of the fuses are blown, then you may need to replace the the lighter plug.

Check to see if you have power to the fixture, make sure you have a good ground (fixture to dash tight), if all these check out you may have a bad fixture that needs to be replaced.

did you use a test light this would be the primary source for an accessory not to work unless the wires to the connector on the back side of the lighter itself has come undone or it may very well be the ground to it you need to visually inspect it a mirror may be of assistance to have a look if you cannot bend under neath the dash maby you can remove the ashtray to better view it
