I too had this problem. I finally found out that my problem was the result of the metal contacts that touch the circuit board when you push the buttons had worn out. To correct my problem, I purchased a small pad that slides right inside the remote and fixes all the buttons. Since then, my remote has worked problem free for the past 3 months. The company that makes the pads is KEYLESSFIX. The following link will take you to the actual website:

Check the fuses first. If that dont work take the door apart the wiers have problably lost the connection due to kids and chocolate.
Gotta love them tho.

I had the same problem to the T. I look online for all the same solutions and I can only tell you what worked for me. Actually what I think worked, HAHA! I went out to my truck and unplugged both battery terminals from battery and placed them together to supposedly reset the electrical system, "so I was told." After this for about 20 min or so, I went back out and in this order; re-installed positive terminal followed by negative terminal to battery. After this I checked locks and windows and surprise they worked. I've seen a lot of people say that all they did was wait and they worked later, so maybe it was that and not what I did, but who cares, they work now. Give it a shot and if it works for you, GREAT let me know, I HATE CHEVY CAUSE OF THIS......they wanted me to pay for a stupid diagnostic before they would help me........well screw you I fixed myself. Your book should give you program options for the door locks If your fob wont work either you got a relay for the door lock bad it is located in the fuse panel push the door lock button and find the one that is clicking
SOURCE: Power door locks won't unlock + tailgate won't open
your issue involves the master control switch panel on the drivers side and or the passenger side as well some how the contact inside the switch assembly has either shorted out or no longer makes contact for the unlock side of the circuit. replace the drivers side panel switchs it's either a series of switc hs or mostimes one sigle board of switchs. you are better off going to an auto parts store rather than a GM dealership this will save you quite a bit on cash on the parts. now as to the rear tailgate. if it is electronic controled and there is an issue with the master switch you can,t manually unlock it because of a safty issue built in the system. you can manually unlock the passenger compartment doors for thew same reasons of safety but doesn't apply to the tailgate. just replace the parts and this will take care of the problem
