The timing belt snapped at a high RPM

Greetings, I have an 05 Suzuki Reno 2.0 liter engine automatic. The timing belt snapped at a high RPM, about 75 mph on the freeway. I have the car in the shop now to replace the water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and idlers. I just received a call from the mechanic informing me that the valves may be bent and some work may need to be done to the head gasket. I would like to know what exactly would need to be done to fix this problem. I was given an estimate around $1500 not including the labor and was also wondering if it would be better to just replace the engine. I have had non stop problems with this car. I have already replaced the transmission, the transmission range sensor twice, the EGR valve, and various other parts along with factory recalls. Your help and input is much appreciated.

A used engine may be the way to go. call junk yard or look on ebay for one. u can also just get a used engine head instead of redoing yours it would be a lot cheeper. I think 1500 is to much just for parts for a 2005 car

How to adjust engine idle on 2007 suzuki reno

there is no such thing, and dont try,
the PCM controls idle at all times. (via the ISC device)
alldata.com, and the real FSM states just that.
read it.
my wild guess is , idle is wrong.
so is wrong, when cold, warm or hot engine
and what is it, in RPM?

I have a 2007 Suzuki reno with about 60,000 miles. Should the timing belt be changed?

should? nobody can answer that. (engine not identified)
if you open the glove box. there is a operators guide.
open book see service page>?
if missing google, for it there are 1000s on line and free from dealer.
most state 60k service. is the required, service point.
some go up to 100k miles, then snap and on some suz engines.
the valves bend in the head, or worse. engine not stated.
suz. make 56 engines, on some brands of suz, 8 engines used world wide.
if the last owner changed the belt at 60k with a china no name belt then it is a bad idea to run it to 120k,,, get a GATES belt and win.

the reno is really, a fast back Forenza, sold in 14 countries.
where are you? where was car sold , new? im clueless ?
here are all the engines used.

here is the wiki to show you, all this confusion.

The RPM of Nissan Altima stays high when drive over 65 MPH.

No....the rpms differ from engine to engine and from manufacturer to manufacturer. RPM's are always higher at higher speeds.

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
