How to connect reverse camera power wire to reverse life wire

"Life wire??" I don't know what you mean.
Usually, the backup camera will derive its power from the positive lead of your backup lights, so that it only turns on when you're backing up. You can use a standard wire tap to derive positive (+) from either backup light, and use chassis ground for the negative (-) lead of the camera.

Where's the power to the camera come from? Is there a switch on transmission and what is the best way to check if the problem is in wiring or if it's the camera it self

Rear camera has 3 wires normally - one must be connected to ground )black) - yellow wire is video signal to display on screen - Red wire gets power from Back-up light circuit - apply +12VDC to red wire to test camera - check wiring to back-up light circuit to assure +12vdc when vehicle is in reverse. https://www.6ya.com/callphilipforhelp

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander and I'm trying to connect a reverse backup camera to my car and I do not know which wire is positive for the reverse light bulb

open up the rear bulb compartment cover
and note the color wires running into the reverse light bulb holder

a hand full of fuses as you
use a LED test light or voltmeter to find the right wire

and use those color wires as your power /earth for the reverse camera

or you need the rear loom wiring diagram for that 2006 chev

How to fit a g427 gator reversing camera to a vy commodore. Confused to what wire to connect for the power to the monitor, and where that wire would be located.thanks Dale

The main active / positive you can pick up direct from a connection under the dash or from the fuse box. Its easy if you have a 12volt test light, you can locate a permanent or switched 12 volt when the ignition key is on. The viewer is usually always on when the ignition is on. The camera picks up power direct from the reversing light. Use a crimp connector or solder direct to the terminal which supplies power to the reverse lights. That way the only time the camera will operate is when the reverse lights are on. The tail and reversing lights usually have a common neutral or negative wire which is connected to the body of the car. The other wire is the one you want. That's the active wire that supplies power when reverse is selected.

Reverse light wire under the dash

The reverse light wire will not be under the dash, there will be a constant live feed from the fuse to the reverse light switch on the gearbox, that is no good for you. You need to take a power after the switch, that's live when reverse is selected. You may be able to pick this wire up from the loom, loom runs down the left hand side of the vehicle. Look at the wire colour to the reverse light at the rear and trace in the loom. at the front kick panel

I have a 2004 Lexus RX330 and last week the backup camera stopped working for two days then it worked for a day and now it is again not working. Here is the problem when I put the car in reverse it is as...

With a backup camera I installed on my wife's Pathfinder, there was a power wire that connected to the backup light power. So when the backup lights came on in reverse, the camera got power, sent a video signal to the dash radio screen, and it would automatically switch to that input. You might have a bad wire/connection supplying power to the camera.

Reverse lights dont work power there but when globes are in there is power on both wires?

Power on both wires is an indication that the ground is not good. Remove the bulb and check to see which wire has power on it when the car is in reverse. Then ground the other (not powered) wire with the bulb installed and see if the light comes on. If it does light up you will have to find out what has happened to the original ground. Corrosion.. broken wire etc.
